:D
I heard that if you want to lose weight quickly you must stop eating around 7:00 pm. Have any of you heard this and if so have you tried it?
They are always coming up with something different but this may have some merit to it, what do you think.
Have a great day.

I know if I ever eat past 9:00pm I gain weight....no matter how little or what I eat. So, not eating past 7:00pm would probably do a lot. Also, a girl I worked with several years ago was trying to get pregnant but was too underweight. Her doctor told her the easiest way to gain weight was to have a little snack before she went to bed. I thought that was interesting.

Well you answered my question, thanks so much.
I usually eat around 9 or 10'clock at night and it seems my weight is staying the same. Now I will work on stopping at 7:30 at night.
Thanks again.

When I was younger I heard that and did it and my weight went down to normal and stayed there until I went back to eating at night. That was while eating SAD.

Hi Teri,
I thought it would be alright if I ate later at night when I went raw but I guess it still adds weight. So changes will have to be made if I want to lose these pounds.

does anyone here know what the rule is in amount of time before you go to sleep? I assume the 7pm rule is for people to go to sleep earlier at night (maybe between 10-12 pm?) I go to sleep at 3-4 am sometimes, so I was wondering if the rule is actually "don't eat 4 hours before going to bed" or something like that?

I believe I have read that one "should" eat at least 2-3 hours before bedtime so the body spends it's time recharging and healing the body versus digesting. But every one has a different genetic make-up and activity level so experimenting is key.

I, however, need to eat earlier myself..so this thread is another great reminder!!

I wonder if it matters the kind of food it is?? For example, I think a simple meal of fruit is better than a SAD meal or a heavy combined one?? at 8pm??

Personally, I don't agree with this theory of weight gain; most weight gain is from excess calories, and eating before bed is probably just extra calories from an extra meal you shouldn't be eating -- you should be sleeping. I believe this is just a caution for not getting into this habit; you must burn any excess calories you consume or you will store the excess calories as fat regardless from where it comes. I can eat right before bed and not gain weight if I'm not consuming excess calories with that meal.

However, I do believe that for digestion the 4-hour rule is a good one.

I would like to gain a few pounds but I also like to get a proper sleep and I want my body not to have to concentrate on digestion while it should be resting.
I think that you should follow the normal food combining rules and treat sleep time the same as you would treat a meal. I drink water up to one hour before, eat fruit up to half hour before, bananas 45 mins before etc, heavy stuf ie. nuts at least an hour. This way it will have been reasonable digested before I go to bed.
