Finally got my new juicer. I don't have the brand here with me ( im at work)
but it's one of those put the produce in and turn the handle. I got some fresh organic beets from my co-op so gave it a try. Well first I didnt have the drain container in right place so juice went down side of counter. Then my 3 yo son followed by my 7 yo daughter both have to try out moms new toy. By the time I was finished I had red beet juice all over the kitchen, me and both kids. It was funny. It seemed like so much work and out of 3 whole beets only got about 1/4 cup of juice. Is that average? Then when I turned my back to start to clean up my daughter drank it all down in one gulp!!!

Luckly, I read up on juicing kale and decided just to start adding that leaf by leaf into my fruit smoothie. It's true, did that this morning and you really can't taste it.

Question..how does everyone else store these veggies. I have so many. Can you freeze the kale then just add a frozen leaf to your smoothie as is? Since heating food destoys the enzmes woudn't drooping the temp have an effect as well? I have been 90% raw for 4 days and I honesty feel more energetic although I did not sleep well last night and when I did I had really vived, weird dreams. Strange. Thanks for reading.

I wouldn't recomend freezing your kale. you wouldn't like the results! :D Kale-cicles dont sound altogether apeazing either. In my experiance (I do ALOT of juicing) I found the best way to store my vegetables can be done in a few steps.

1) make sure your fridge is clean. if you've had produce go bad in the fridge it can leave bacteria that will make your other produce go bad faster.

2) Wash your produce, trim it up, and remove any leaves or stems that look haggared.

3) Make good use of your veggie bin. wrapping kale, spinach and other leafy greens in a bit of paper towel (when their still a bit damp) and then store them in the veggie bin. Beets will last longer in the bin too.

4) keep fruits and vegetables seperate for the most part. Nothing extreme, just being mindfull.

I hope this helps a bit. I think the most important thing is making sure your fridge is clean and that your veggies are washed and as healthy as possible when you put them in the fridge. Oohh and if you want an excellent juicer - Try Jack Lalayne's juicer. I use to have an expensive champion juicer and it's gathering dust because the Jack Lalayne one does so much better!

HAPPY JUICING! :D
