IÂ’ve made it up in my mind and havenÂ’t even had second thoughts of going back. ItÂ’s a permanent decision. IÂ’ve decided that this is the year I am going to finally reach optimum health by following a 100% raw foods diet and faithfully fasting one time a week plus 3 days at the beginning of each month and 7 to 10 days at the start of each season. IÂ’ve already gotten all the dates marked on my calendar. And IÂ’m determined to stick to 100% raw no matter where we are, where we go, what restaurant we are in, etc. The dh has been wonderfully supportive of my decision and is actually joining me on my 21 day fast to begin this journey. I know this is just the way I was meant to live my life - in optimum health. I can't expect a change in two to three weeks but I know I could have the potential to reach it within a year's time if I keep myself dedicated and committed to this way of life. I decided to go 100% for one year straight but KNOW once I hit that year mark, there will never be any going back. I'm that confident in this lifestyle change. I am looking forward, also, to all the changes that will be occurring inside and outside. I even told the dh that after 3 weeks of fasting, I would have no desire to drink coffee. I know he doesn't believe that part of it until I prove it (I've said it so many times and have fallen back on what I've said. I can understand why he would want to see the action instead) And I'm ready to finally tackle all those recipes that seem too difficult for me. I'm ready to try my hand at those as well. This is going to be the best year of my life. I can see it, feel it, taste it and touch it. Now all I need to do is reach out and grab it!

And one other thing: THANK YOU to all of you who have helped me to make the decision to go on this journey at 100%, and thank you for all the advice as well!

That is great.
I was under the assumption that the fasting should be one of those 3 and not all 3 but I do not know a lot about fasting so maybe others will not agree with me.
Good Luck and I know that you will make it because of your determination.

livenraw,

Really glad to see your goals posted. Coffee is a strong pull--personally gave it up twice and made it through the withdraw better the second (and hopefully last) time.

Have not fasted but am impressed with your commitment. I do not plan on making "New Year's Resolutions," but I do wish to make a list of goals for 2006. Fasting will now be on that list.

Best of luck and best wishes for a happy and healthy new year.

Thank you for the inspiration "livenraw." I have been transitioning to raw since August and am 90%+ now....great idea to write it all out. I am so Type A if I do that I will follow it. I think I'll fast one day a week too or the first of every month for a couple of days? Which is more effective? I lead a busy lifestyle and as much as I'd like to retreat, fast, and meditate the reality is I am married with 5 children between the ages of 9-19, am a special education teacher, and distance runner (running the Disney Marathon NEXT SUNDAY  ) so I also have to be careful not to deplete my body while training...keep in touch! we can all motivate each other! I want to start a journal here but am a little confused as to how to access it  Have you guys started one????

Happy New Year Everyone. Let me know when you all want to start training for a marathon!!!!! (Hey, for my first one I weighed about 50 lbs more, SAD, and intended to walk it on behalf of my son with neurofibromatosis-another WHOLE TOPIC!!!) and here I am 6 years later running 50-70 miles per week....never say never! well, just a thought :D See, my theory is you'll all feel so great once you're completely raw, you'll have so much extra energy you'll NEED to channel it....so I'll recruit you to run a marathon for the Children's Tumor Foundation (LOL)...PEACE
