I am just curious how long you were raw before taking these classes. I am asking because I am making the jump to 100% raw (I mean, totally raw) and I was telling the dh about the classes and he told me to check into the prices and all and he would see about me taking them. However, I feel that maybe I should be 100% raw for at least a full year before even considering but then, when I looked at the chef classes, I thought that might help me to stick with this for the long term and then after a year, perhaps, look into the Level 2 and 3 classes. I'm just curious what you who are certified think.

The requirement is that you are raw for at least 30 days i.e., have completed the 30-day challenge to take the Level 2 Instructor Class.

But you can take the Level 1 Chef Class without having been raw for any given period of time since that particular class is geared towards learning how to make the food in Alissa's book.

To see the prerequisites for the Level 2 Class, go to: http://www.rawteacher.com/instructorcert.html and scroll all the way down.

Now, if you are planning to attend the full 3-Level Training from Alissa, then you'll want to have been raw for at least 30 days since you will be taking all three. But the best thing to do is to call and speak with Elaine, Alissa's Assistant, to find out if any of the prerequisites can be waived if need be.

That's the textbook answer from Rawkinlocs. I'll give you my emotional answer :)

If this is your calling, you know it. You hear it. You feel the need to share and help others. You KNOW that once you start raw, you'll make it your lifestyle (excluding a "learning curve"). It's like when you realized you DH was the one. It didn't matter when you got married, cuz in your heart you already were.

If you KNOW then do it! Don't worry about not having a certain amount of time behind you, because as you're teaching others, you'll have all of Alissa's time behind you and all of her experiences. It's ok to tell people "I've only been raw for 90 days" or whatever. It'll help them identify with you in my opinion. They'll know you weren't "born" that way, and you've had struggles that are still fresh in your mind, so you can help them because you understand.

I hope that helps :D

Hi livenraw. You have some great perspectives from Rawkinlocs and kmik.
As Rawkinlocs suggested, call Elaine, Alissa's assistant at the number listed on Alissa's website. You will be so glad that you did!

When I first discovered raw, via Shazzie, I became incredibly excited. Then I found Alissa and really connected with her. And at that point, as kmik said, I knew.
I thought at the time how much I would love to teach this and use the incredible passion that I had found within . But I also thought I would have to wait a year or two so I would have some form of credibility. I laugh about this now!

Going to Alissa's showed me how untrue this was. The beauty of this, is that you will be teaching from Alissa's experience as well as your own, and she has 20 years credibility. I came back from her place and opened a Living Food center and have experienced firsthand how beautiful the combination of my own personal experience is with Alissa's vast experience. It is perfect. My life is forever changed, and now so too are others lives being changed. Had I waited until I felt I was experienced enough, or perfect enough or credible enough, I would have missed out on so much--and so would all the clients I have.
I have been to talks and lectures, read every book, been to every website etc....but nothing cemented raw for me like Alissa's training did.
Its about passion. Not time or science or anything else. Simply passion. Combine yours with Alissa's and watch what happens. The world is waiting.

Hope we helped you!
Warmly~
Carmel
