I was NEVER a coffee drinker until about 3 years ago and then started drinking it but it was never a big issue, and I could go months without drinking it, not miss it and then drink it again for a little while, stop, start again, etc, so all in all, I would say that I probably spent about a year's span drinking coffee (if I were to drink 8 cups per day), and I'm just wondering how long it will take to get the coffee out of my system if I didn't drink it all that much. Will it take a long, long time or will the damage be less because I didn't do it until 3 years ago?

I probably drank about 2 cups a day and sometimes, I'd go weeks upon weeks without any, then maybe start drinking 2 cupa a day again for maybe 2 or 3 months, then go without it again, etc...so I'm guessing maybe it equals out to 8 cups per day within a year's time (even though I've been drinking it over a three year span - I hope that makes sense)I have to be honest and say I haven't broken the coffee habit yet but see myself slowing down drinking it. It's one of the reasons I'm heading into a 21 day fast in January. Trying to rid myself of that habit once and for all (even though it's not like I drink a pot or two a day like some people)

I think it's important to make a distinction here. It will only take a handful of days to get rid of the symptoms of coffee addiction. I believe most people say 2 or 3 days. (I've never actually looked it up.) For me, I find it's about 2 days before the headache goes away.
For long-term detox, I think every body is different. Our bodies will let go of the toxins we have in the order in which it sees fit.
