To everyone. I am curious to know what type of fasting have you done and what was the duration--the longest you have ever done?

Last January, I did the master cleanser for 7 days straight. Starting Jan 3rd, I will be going 21 days but forget the master cleanser. I will just be doing purified water, freshly squeezed lemons and ACV 3x daily. I'm doing this before I jump into 100% raw. I think this will really speed up getting over the cooked food taste and all. I also fast one day a week and will do a 7 day fast at the start of every season.

I am planning on doing a wheatgrass fast. Starting first thing in the am, I will have only wheatgrass for the next ten days. After the holidays of bad food combining, I really need to clean out my system. I will be attending alissa's class in January and really want to be at my best.
I update what my progress is!

Liveraw, the water fast is one that I will be doing soon. I'm excited cuz I really enjoyed fasting---I don't have a "flare" for solid food--just feels like UGH.............

Rawjojo--wow, great to see you --haven't seen or heard from you in awhile. Are you use to the taste of wheatgrass? I would love to hear about it when you do it?

I have done only one ten day master cleanse. If my husband and I don't conceive by March (we are trying...) I/we will go on a 40 day master cleanse for Lent. I hope to find a 'supervisor' for this, though. Has anyone ever done that? (gotten an expert to supervise a fast) I have no idea what that might entail.

I've done a 10 day juice fast. Towards the end days of that all I wanted was water so that's all I consumed.

B_light: I tried the MC for 8 hours and my naturopath at that time pulledmeoff of it b/c it was TOO powerful for me. one of these days, ihope to do it again.

Lunawitch: that's how I was too about the 8 th day, i started to get more thirsty and juice less. by day 12, i really didin't want any juice which i waht i should have done and drank water for the next day or two.

DO ANY OF YOU STRAIN YOUR JUICE BEFORE CONSUMING????

IT WAS AVISED BY ONE FO OUR MEMBERS AWHILE BACK FROM A JUICING EXPERT THAT IT REMOVES ALL THE PULP SO THE DIEGSTIVE SYSTEM CN COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN OTHERWISE IT WILL THINK IT IS STARVING.

I TRIED TO STRAIN IT THRU A COFFEE FILTER BUT IT DIDN'T WORK FOR ME

I'm starting the master cleanser for 5 days today, then 2 weeks all raw. my plan is to do this three times a year-winter, spring and fall. I am at other times 85% raw vegan with no grain-that's what gives me the most energy. Also, I've noticed a cumulative benefit of serial fasting like this over the last year-it's really helped me transition to high raw vegan diet and EASILY let go of the psychological attachment to animal protein and junk. It's cool.

I went on my first juice fast in 1994 right after a divorce. It started as a way to lose weight but by the time I had been on it for a couple of weeks I felt so awesome I just kept going! I bought a juicer (a cheap one first than eventually a nice one) and I made veggie juice in the morning using recipes from a book on juicing and in the afternoon I made fruit smoothies in my blender. I had no knowledge of juicing or raw food diet prior to this. I decided to try it when I went to a juice bar one day with my Dad for lunch. The juices they made were so awesome I thought, "I could live on these!" And I did for 4 months. It actually helped me through the post divorce blues and start over. When I started dating again though, I started going to restaurants with dates and of course I went back to cooked. If I had known about raw foods as a life-style then I probably would have stayed with it. :(
Oh well, I'm here now!! ;)

I have been on the master cleanse for 2 days now and I couldn't stand it any longer and got on the scale. I have lost 5 pounds so far. :D In the past, when I have fasted it has been more for enlightenment rather than losing weight and overall health.... When I fasted in the past, I fasted for a week or so at a time and then ate healthly but I fasted by without eating anything. I was brought up to believe that a fast isn't truly a fast unless you obstain from everything. My mom and dad both believe this and I know it ties in closely with their religious and doctrine beliefs. I understand what they mean but I also believe that other forms of fasting can be appropriate as well. I think that eventually when I may take a fast for 1 or 2 weeks without drinking or eating- can be powerfully inspiring.

I've done a 9 day master cleanse, a 6 day liquid fast, and two 14 day water fasts. I prefer water fasting, I have tons more energy and feel great.

I did a 21 day master cleanser at the end of 2004.I felt great, had tons of energy, but really was not focused on how to eat when I came off of it. I lost 20 lbs and gained 8 back, not too bad. But jumped back into cooked since I came off it right before the holidays.I did it mainly for weight loss.

This time I know how i'm going to eat afterwards, and I feel very differently about why I am doing it. This time my purpose is to cleanse my system, give my body a rest and push the restart button so I can transition to healthy eating afterwards. And, honestly the weight loss is welcome too. I am spending time getting clear in my intention to truly change my eating style.

I am happy that I learned from my last mc experience and that i waited until i was ready for it this time. I thought about it sevreal times since the first one, but intuitively knew I wasn't ready til now.

It's a process!!
