Long story short: 2 years and 4 months ago, August 2003 I weighed 355lbs. I was able to loose it all ( 190lbs), due to a great friend of mine, :D . In the first 3 months through his program,( no drugs or surgery), I lost 100lbs. By November 2004 I reached 165lbs . From November 2004 to April 2005 I maintained that weight. From April to August I went up to 180 range. This is where I've been, except for a two week stretch where I went raw. In that 2 week period I lost 7lbs, which was sweet! :)
For the past 3 to 4 months I've been researching vegetarian/ vegan and just this last month raw lifestlyes.
I am working on getting my kitchen set up and trying to find places and groups in my area that are RAW, or where I can order raw foods and kitchen aid stuff. And also trying to get all organic items is a challenge. In America bad food is abundant and it's cheap - where as good food is not cheap, but it is so much better for you. In my state it's winter time with snow. My garden this year was a flop. Plus I didn't know anything about being organic gardening till after the fact.
Two bonuses are That: there is a health food store in my area, and that I stumbled upon this website. :)
I've been surfing the different raw topics learning a lot of useful information. Which is why I tried the 2 week test on RAW.. I'll have to admit it was tough when at the family christmas get togather's I droped back to eating the bad stuff.
No worries, I'm not beating myself up. I'm still trying to figure out my path to the raw lifestlye. I look forward to learning from many of you who are sucessful in the raw lifestlye :).

Welcome and good luck to you. I agree, finding good produce is difficult and expensive. It is not very abundant where I live either (Northeast Ohio). We will just have to keep trying I guess. Anyway...I hope to start too. I did get Alissa's book and DVD and feel better equipped with the Raw recipes, etc. Good luck to you. Keep us posted.

Wow, you've made some tremendous changes already, Congrats!! There aren't any health food stores in my little town, nor organic anything so I do the best I can. I just eat the produce I can get here and when I have a chance to shop in a bigger city, I stock up on all the organics I can afford! Organic isn't necessary, just preferred. Many of us on here would like to use more organics but they either aren't available in our areas or we can't afford them. Just take advantage of what ever is available to you! This is a great website with lots of support! Enjoy your journey! :)

For those of us (me) who are not master chef's yet. What are some easy meals to eat on a daily basis. I've been doing some green veggie and apple or 2 juicing; spinach salads; banana and apple and orange and soy milk smoothie;
carrot juice and coconut,(unsweetened); bean and alpha sprouts in salads and in some veggie juices; plus eating the pulp from the different combinations too.
I saw some of the pictures from those more experienced RAW Chef's. Those christmas meals look soooooo good :D.
So far one of my favorite breakfast meals is oatmeal and soy milk or spring water and some cinnamon then I usually let it set for 30 to 45 min and rise before I eat it. hhhmmm :) .
Being new I still have the " pop it in the microwave, or off the stove and it's done real quick!" thinking. Especially when I'm real hungary :eek:
Do you spend one or two days a week preparing food so it's ready when you get hungary your food is ready to eat or make it as you go?
Thanks for the insight :) .
