I am so excited about Alissa's book and DVD. The book has alot of pages but very easy and fast read. I like that it is double spaced and not alot of words on the page so it is fast to asborb. I have not gotten through the DVD entirely yet but so far she exudes so much energy and she looks healthy and beautiful - the way I would love to look some day. I am so glad I purchased both. If anyone reading this is new I recommend it highly. She writes in a way that any one can understand - not a lot of techno mumbo jumbo. You can literally read this and be ready to go raw the next day or two as soon as you purchase fresh produce. The only thing I did not like about the book, and this goes for any 'un-cook' book, is there are no photos of the prepared food in the book. I think photos in any raw food book is essential because they appeal to our visual sense of "boy I would eat that!" This is in no way intended to be a slam to Alissa, or anyone. I just think raw foods are beautiful and a non-raw foodist could see how appealing they really are. I recommend the DVD to purchase along with the book so you can see her beautiful and easy creations. Her recipes are simple and fast. As I posted before - if it has more than 10 ingredients I tend to ignore the recipe - or do without all the ingredients. Who has that much time? I cannot wait to get through the rest of her information. I have purchased many raw food books and they have all been very good, but I have to say, if I only had enough money to buy one - or wanted one that I could understand completely and start today, it would be Alissa's book (as well as the DVD). It is complete, thorough, logical, and she convinces you to go raw without making you feel 'forced' into it. I hope this helps anyone looking for a way to begin. Happy holiday to everyone! :)

I think you may have skimmed right past the photos!

If you go to page 255, flip about 2 more pages and you'll be in her photo section where there are beautiful photos of some of the food items (about 8 pages worth...16 if you count front and back of each page).

Yes Raspberry4, Alissa's book and DVD are amazing! My copy of the DVD is always loaned out. Just think if she had put pictures of every recipe the book either would have been twice as big (too large to handle) or would have contained only half the recipes. Also I think the color pages are much more expensive which would have made the book more expensive.

Living on Live Food is perfect the way it is.

I think she has another book in the works. What would be nice to see is a living on live food series of little books. Like the little recipe books that are at every grocery store checkout. The ones with maybe 30 recipes and a photo for each. Hey! Monthly raw recipes!

Unfortunately Alissa is only one person. She had a real good idea about the teachers. More people to get the work done.

Thanks - I did see those 16 or so pictures and they look very enticing.

It's just my opinion - I used to buy "cookbooks" that had great pictures.

The book is still wonderful and I will continue to recommend it and use it the most by far.

Good idea though - monthly recipes would be good - one or two per day of new things to make - boy that would help alot. Or a book of soups, pates,
salads, etc. each with photos would be great too. Maybe we should look into it hmmm..... ;)

Thanks for replying.

Rasberry,
Have you checked on this board for pictures? SamuelWilson posts a lot of his pictures of creations he makes from Alissa's book. If there's something you want to see in a picture you should just type it in the search tab (top click on the banana). A lot of people post their pics too, you shoulf find most of the recipes you look for.

Glad that you are exicted about the book and DVD. My stays on a special stand where i guard it.....my sis is not allowed to touch it unless she asks :) it's a very personal thing--i simply don't see it as a cookbook--it's more of a symbol of my life changing moment.

you know, i never realy thought about the pictures...i kind of always "imagined" the food in my mind no matter what cookbook........if you ever neeed help with creating those recipes, let us know!!!

congrats and enjoy....let us know what you make first? :) ;)
