I was wondering if any of you crave more food the week/s before your cycle? I find I crave more raw fat like avocados. I was just curious...because I do not want to add in more food OR obsess about it. i do not eat nuts or dried foods or chocolate etc....I mainly eat low sugar/high water fruits and veggies.

YES! in fact, my starts out with distorted thoughts and perception and i can feel it like hair on skin. TODAY infact, i looked in the mirror and weighed myself 5 times before coming out of the bathroom and staring at myself in disgust. all this happens 1-2 weeks before my mense which only last for 2-3 days very light. seems like i have one every other month.
anyway, then i start to mentally think about foods that i don't eat...........nuts, nuts nuts seem to be the object of desire (esp. almond) . i get into a tantrum with myself. it such a horrible feeling but i manage to thru it and look back thinking that it wasn't so bad..............i dread the next one. :o

Always...always...always...but the weird part? I always crave something healthy (like an avocado or a mango or nuts) rather than chocolate (that used to be my massive craving) So I'll eat a ton of food before my cycle but then it goes back to normal after the cycle. My cycles used to last up to a week. Now they last about 2 days at the most.
Thanks for sharing-- I too do not crave poor foods...I could eatt 2 avocados as a snack and then some dulse--I just wanted to see what others did. I like things sort of structured so it is weird when I feel such strong cravings..I am not sure whether to give in or let it pass???

As long as you are eating healthy, I cannot see any harm in giving in (unless you're allergic to nuts or something - then, please don't!) I always give in and eat tons. That's the beauty of eating raw. You can eat a lot with no side effects (well, maybe stronger and deeper detox) Perhaps, at that time, it's what your body really needs. Just listen to your body and eat what it is telling you. If I start craving something, then I'll eat it, because to me, that's a signal that it needs that for one reason or another. And if it's a food I don't often crave, then I know my body is craving it for some reason.

Yes chocolate chocolate more chocolate...I always fought this urge every month but since going raw I have given in and made raw choc brownie.

Ah, so that's what is happening! Thanks for posting, JMD. Yes, I usually do crave during my cycle - sweets and fats mostly. This particular week I have been craving guacamole by the gallon, it seems. . .something about the avocado and the sweet onions . . .and rather than fighting it too much, I've gone ahead and eaten quite a bit - until I was satisfied. And, quite remarkably, I was **really** satisfied. This rarely happens for me!
Oh, and I'm detoxing like crazy right now, too, through my skin. . .but I, overall, feel really good.

not trying to throw the balance off here but even though i am raw, i can't help but still feel tormented and guilty even though i am craving a handful of almonds.....i think it's more of the intent rather than the almonds itself. which is interesting b/c no matter what, those almonds will exist..............so it's my perception that's gotta change.
so from now on, i will see my pre mense as a day of celebration !!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
