I'm trying to decide whether to eat fruit or veggies at lunch. I eat fruit in the morning and for snacks and a big salad at dinner.
Do you eat more fruit than veggies? Do you eat fruit until lunch then veggies, fruit all day until dinner or something completely different? What experiences have you had with weight loss and how you feel when you have a fruit or veggie lunch?
Thanks for sharing!

LeanGreenMachine,
I too start my day with fruit. For lunch, usually my largest meal for the day, I have either a large mixed salad with lots of goodies or a prepared meal made the day before. I am having a blast going through Alissa's book and making different things. Since I'm on my own, I usually half the recipe and there is plenty for at least a couple meals. I rarely have fruit in the evenings--the exception being when I take my MOL to bingo on Friday I take a large plate or smallish tray of cut up fruits and a couple bottles of water for our healthy snack.
(I've only been about 5 weeks raw and really feeling so much better--lost 12 lbs on top of that)

I eat very little veg other than celery which I use with kiwi to make smoothies. I use a little carrot sometimes in crackers. I may use 2 onions a week in salads but no veg for the sake of veg. I eat a lot of fruit. A lot of people do not view veg as optimum food for human consumption.
When you are starting I think that you should eat what you want. You have the rest of your life to perfect it and you have a better chance of sticking with it if you are enjoying it.

I usually eat a stong balance between the two, leaning towards more greens. I find that if I eat fruit for two meals, I feel slightly off balance and hungry all day long, and end up grazing. If i eat fruit for breakfast and two salads I feel very satisfied. I do different things on different days though, so perhaps go with how you feel. The key with fruit is just making sure you eat a large amount so that you feel full and satisfied.

Definitely more fruit. But I do have days when its the other way around (like today), but thats rare. I would say I eat at least twice as much fruit as veggies. I include in this my fruit smoothies, which I have really been getting into lately. For me, a typical smoothie would have 4 bananas, 1 pear and 5-7 dried dates in it. So thats about 6 pieces of fruit plus the 5-7 pieces I usually have for breakfast.
I find I listen to my body and it will tell me. I always have fruit for breakfast and snack through the morning and veggies /salad with flax oil and lemon for lunch and dinner. A few days a week I eat one of those meals as all fruit. In the summer, I can live on fruits and things like cukes and zuchinni which are also fruits. As it is now winter and COLD  I tend to crave more greens.
How is your digestion?/ Let that be your guide. In the beginning I kept a diary/food log to see what worked and did not. Normally fruit in the evening is a poor choice for me but it is very strengthening in the morning.
I did not have much weight to lose but maintain my weight eating lots of fruit in the morning and veggies. AMAZING! Also I tried to focus more on how my body felt..less congested, more fluid which guided me on what to eat.
I always bring fruit with me when I travel shope work, during the days and if I go to a restaurant for dinner with my sweet husband then I bring baby carrots in my purse with a disposable Ziploc--teeny one--with flax oil. I feel great to be prepared wherever I go so I stay centered, clean, and blood sugar stable.
I am happy you are on this path...:)
Blessings,

There are days when I eat 90% fruit and days I eat 90% veggies, so I guess I'm about 50/50. I may be eating a tad more fruit in the winter than I did in the summer.

I really eat more fruit than veggies. But I do eat alot of nuts. Just plain, in almond milk, in nut milk shakes, in pate's etc.

I eat mostly veggies!! They really are what give me the most energy and make me feel good. Full of vitamins and minerals and much more satisfying to me than fruit. I'm sensitive to sugar and fruits are sugars, so too much will make me hypoglycemic and then I don't feel well. If I ate a fruit meal at lunch, I would be starving a couple hours later where as a salad is very satisfying to me. I also eat a decent amount of nuts, seeds, and other healthy fats. Not as much as some raw foodists eat, but certainly not fat free. I listen to my body and lately its been craving a lot of greens. I'm not trying to lose weight though since I'm already very thin as it is.

I think you are going to get a varied number of opinions here because i can take the above quote and substitute the worg "Veggies" for Fruit. I may add a small or 1/2 Apple to my green drink. The only time I may eat more fruit than veggies is if I am traveling and cannot make my green drink. I work out regular and i find I have more strength in the gym since I switched to more veggies. tglasco likes fruit, he does more running than I do and has different needs. So you will need to Experiment and find what works best for you. There is no right way as long as it is RAW !!!

I definitely eat more fruit. It's to me the most natural, visible food in the world. I like some nuts but mostly enjoy pumpkin seeds, the seed of a "fruit".

leangreen, i noticed that your goal is weight loss. I would say consider leaning more to the veggies, but make sure your diet is BALANCED, you will need some stuff like avocadoes and nuts, not just fruits and veggies IMO.

overall, i eat more fruit. somedays, i find myself eating more veggies but i always feel better eating a higher ratio of fruit. when i juice fasted, my body craved more veggie juices yet fruit in it's natural state with its meat and fiber, i can consume even if i don't eat veggies for that day.

It's day 21 of my 30 days as 100 percent raw. One thing I have noticed is that it varies in regards to the ratio of fruit and veggies. I tend to be an intuitive eater, so I eat what my body craves. If I do eat a lot of fruit one day, I notice I literally CRAVE salads, sprouts, and veggies the next day. One day I ate two large salads and lots of veggies and the next day, I ate fruit all day because it felt 'right'. I think that raw food pyramid is at work for sure--at least in my own life and eating habits. I think in her book and DVD's Alissa alludes to this idea that your body will naturally eat what it needs :)
