Green Smoothie Questions . . .

What type of blender do those that make these green smoothies use? I read the Boutenko book this week and she recommends using a Vita Mix, but we aren't prepared for that expenditure.

Also, blending a drink, doesn't that oxidize the mixture? With juicers, centrifugal types are supposed to be less favored because they incorporate too much oxygen with the juice, why would a blender be different?

I make my green smoothies with an Osterizer blend - it's the heavier duty model ( I think it cost about $70 new) and it does a fine job, though I will sometimes stop it briefly and start again so as not to over work the motor.
