I have been maintaining a raw food lifestyle since July. I am not 100% raw, but pretty close. The other day I went off of it and boy did my system rebel. Is it possible that my system can be too clean?

It's possible...your body is signalling to you that you are putting something "foreign" into it and it's letting you know. I really think our bodies tried to do that all along when our diets were MOSTLY cooked foods, but we couldn't "hear" them for all the gunk inside. But now, yes, even if not 100% but close to it, your body is MUCH cleaner and can speak loud and clear!! ;)
So LISTEN to it! :D

Lauri...it happens to me anytime I eat anything out of my norm now. I most definitely can hear my body now when its trying to tell me something!! Its a good thing.

No such thing as "to clean"!
For me, I do not think my system is "Too" clean...just very very senstive and cleaner. I react to the slightest thing...even a drop of salt. I look at it as a blessing..and that hopefully I will live a long and prosperous life:)

I've always thought of it as a sensitivity issue where more energy is available to your sensory organs. Defensive mechanisms that are there to serve you, by keeping your tissues pristine, go into overdrive rather quickly once you've gained back the nerve energy lost previously by adapting to the overstimulated lifestyle (and foodstuffs).

:) On my first attempt my husband and I went out of town and I purchased a bean burrito and went back to the motel and filled it with a lot of raw veggies and some organic beans we had purchased from the health food store before we left for the trip.
I thought I was doing ok until I returned home, my stomach blew up. I was so bloated I looked like I had gained about 5 pounds and the scales reflected it. It took me almost a month to get my stomach to go down. So, yes your body will talk to you in one way or another and my body said, ( Bad Girl), you know better and if you don't I will teach you a good lesson. I learned that even though when you are out of town we ;) cannot stray from what we know is right. Our bodies know best. :D

Another thing that I have noticed is that if I eat a cooked meal or part of a meal cooked then I don't sleep well that night at alll. I don't have digestive upset for the most part but it is probably because I might have a baked potato along with my huge salad or cooked lentils with my salad. BUT I sure don't sleep well. I don't know if it is a coincidence or not. I haven't tried it often enough to find out. It's just not worth it.
