This is so cool! On Friday, our group here at work are going out for our Christmas lunch. They faxed us the menu from the bistro we're going to, and there really wasn't much that I could easily get. All the salads had extras that I didn't want (non-raw), and if you took them off, there'd be nothing left. So in the fax I sent this morning with our lunch requests (to order ahead of time to be in and out quicker). Well, I'd included a note on my order that's similar to the card which folks use at restaurants to see if they'll prepare something raw. I just called to confirm they'd received the fax, and to check on my special request, and they were more than happy to take care of it for me!!! I think the owner is familiar with this ... she'd asked if I was doing raw for medical reasons (her doctor has been trying to get her on different diets, I guess). But it made it much easier that she seemed familiar with this, and was more than happy to help!

Whew!!!!! It's so nice to not have to dread going out!!! :)

I've heard it's always more effective to tell them "my doctor told me to eat like this"...they are more willing to oblige than if you were to tell them you were doing it for personal or ethical reasons.

Keeping in mind that it doesn't matter to them why we are doing this, your food will most likely come to you better if they believe you are under a doctor's supervision!

Stuart's Bistro out on the beach. Should be good!

I did tell them it was for health reasons, but she was very receptive to it even before that. It was definitely a positive reaction so far, which is such a relief! I hate dreading to go to restaurants.

How do you do that? I went to my husbands Christmas party and they had my absolute cooked favorite, mexican food. The only thing raw was the lettuce, tomato, and guacamole. My husband told his boss that I was raw vegan and the next thing I know I was being shown the refrigerator. :) I had a lovely plate with an orange, banana, mixed berries and the afore mentioned items. It was great. But, we haven't figured out how to go out to a restaurant yet...
