Hey everyone,
Recently I've found out the tahini I've been purchasing isn't raw even though it's labelled raw...duh, I should know better. Anyways, I want to make my own...can someone give me an exact recipe? and while we're at it, what oil do you use when making almond butter? Thanks!

Use Organic Extra Virgin Sesame Oil if possible.

To make tahini, just pour hulled sesame seeds into a small compact food processor and blend on highest speed adding small amounts of sesame oil until you get the right consistency. You may have to blend for a while to ensure all the sesame seeds are ground. It is ok to have some whole seeds that did not grind when you are finished.

To makie tahini, just add it to your Vita Mix, and blend, if you use unhulled sesame seeds, it will be much more bitter, so hulled (although not as nutricious) is more palatable for most.
Raw almond butter
soak almonds for at least 12 hours,
dehydrate to crips
run through Vita Mix until smooth
or grind in food processor until smooth
or run through a nut grinder to make almond butter
You don't add anything to them, no added oils or water or anything.
it's that easy.
They can make your machines run slower though, if you don't have the best quality. They take alot of horse power to smash into a smooth paste, but you can just keep mixing until it is smooth.

Thanks Samuel and RP, this is exactly what I needed! I'm off to pick up sesame seed oil and some more almonds.
