mead istead of wine

Is Mead considered Raw? Is it a better choice than wine. For Christmas and New Year's I would like a drink and trying to decide which would be better. Has anyone ever drank Mead?

My husband brews beer and he has mentioned making mead so I thought maybe it is made with the very high heat as beer is. He said that the mead is made of a honey mixture called "must" and it must be pasturized at 190% for the fermentation to take place. So no it is not Raw.

Thanks for letting me know. I will try a bottle of organic red wine as was suggested to me.
