I purchased "The food dehydrator" Model FD5 by Mr. Coffee from the goodwill, after inspecting the boxed contents and giving it the goodhousekeeing inspection :p i find it has never been used .

I have seen the stacked tray dehydrator's that seem so quick and easy to use. I know this may sound like a dumb question, but what is the difference between the Mr. Cooffe, being round, stacked with numerous shelves, and the square shaped stacked tray version  . Please enlighten me on the difference of usage.

The Excalibur is built similar to an oven in that the door is in the front and the trays slide in. So if you have a particlarly high item, you can leave out some trays in-between for extra headroom. The fan is in the back which evenly dries out the food.

Your unit would be great for dehydrating lots of fruits and veggies, herbs, and so on. You can make round pizzas with holes in the middle too.

Does yours have a thermostat/temp control?

Sharon in Colorado,

Thanks for helping me with my question.

There is no temperature setting just an on/off button.

As for the pizza with a hole in the middle, i am willing to give it a try :D
