Guess what? After all of those previous young coconut discussions, off to the Asian market I went. It's not there anymore  .
Now of course we want what we can't have, isn't that the way it goes....I want young coconut, NOW
Who would send me a couple or so, I will pay for them and the shipping :p or where to order....youngcoconuts. com says no longer avail online, can't find them...ohhhh

I typed in the search area on my computer "young coconuts" and some sites that deliver came up. I didn't order any yet tho. They are sort of expensive to ship because they are heavy and they said they don't guarentee that they will all be good, meaning some may be bad when you open them.

Do you know if orkos will deliver to the US? I just ordered from them and got a coconut pagode light which is basically a young coconut only ten times better, seriously the best coconut I have ever had.

Analeah: I just visited orkos website and I SO want to place an order!! How do you find the quality of their fruit? Are the prices good? Have you tried different varieties of coconuts and/or durians? Can you recommend any? And... finally... do you know if it's possible to pay with creditcard or online?
Thanks in advance :)

Too bad they don't deliver to the US! Tanja, there is a thread started just for orkos here
http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?p=8239#post8239
I ordered two different kinds of durian but I explain all about it in that thread. I would HIGHLY reccommend the coconut pagode light...soooo good. There prices are expensive for some things but not as much for others. For example litches and magnoustines and other small thai fruits are more than twice as much when bought at a local super market here. Durians and young coconuts I can't find anywhere so the price I have nothing to compare to. And yes it is possible to pay with credit card online. I also got a date sample thing which was cool they sent 16 different varieties 3-5 of each and was about 11euro I think. That other fruit that is a cousin to durian camebek or something like that I forget name lol is good too and you would probably like it if you like durian. The jumbo medjool dates were my favorite....so huge and soft and good it's like a meal.

Yay, everyone come quick! :p Tanja, just for an update about the Orkos stuff, I tried a few more things today that I really enjoyed. One being a wild durian from Bali of which even the seeds were incredibly tasty. The other thing was an amarillo sapote that tasted like pumpkin pie and had the consistency and texture of baked yam, it was really amazing! The other thing I don't know the name of but will try to to find, it looks like a potatoe on the outside but tastes like a peach pie! Definately get some pagode light coconuts, they are truly amazing!

Glad, where in Alabama are you again? I just bought a young coconut last month at Wild Oats. Since I go down to Huntsville to the chiropractor, I can bring some down there with me (if they are still available) and perhaps we can meet somewhere??? Maybe? Maybe? ;)

I'll be in the Atlanta area for Christmas, actually Woodstock, GA. I'll have to ask my sister if they have a Wild Oats - I'm sure they do, they have everything there.
We'll work something out. You're welcome to stay with me if you come up to the Nashville area when we have our next potluck. My son doesn't mind giving up his room for all our guests! LOL. ;)

just wanted to let you know about those thai coconuts: make sure the ones that you get are not a pure white....if so, that means that they have been dipped in formaldehyde to keep them white. In natural state, they should turn color (brownish/yellowy).
just an fyi,

They have young coconuts at my Wild Oats store for $1.99 but I buy them at the asian market for $1.29. I'm sure your asian market will get them again - they are pretty common.
If you really really really want one, or two, or three, I'd be happy to pick up a couple for you and fedex them or something. Just let me know! :)
