I am going to buy a dehydrator and I checked was was available. We can get the Excalibur 2900 w/ 9 FREE Teflex Sheets for $209.95 w shipping at rawguru.com or the 3926T at excaliburdehydrator.com/ for $249.95 with no Teflex Sheets ($10.50 ea)

It looks like the newer 3926T has three more things:

1-White (no important to me)
2- Entire case and door made of the same polycarbonate you use in the trays (no sure itÂ’s really a plus)
3- Has 26 hour timer

I have two questions related to this:

A- Did they improved the accuracy of the thermostat on the 3926T or do we still have to use and external Thermometer (Taylor Professional Digital Thermometer/Timer)?

B- Is really an advantage to have a timer integrated that shutdown the heat?

Thanks to share your experience. :)

Eric,

I bought mine directly from the company because I wanted the model with the timer. I am very glad that I did. There are many times when I have needed it to go off when I am not around.

The hardest part for me has been getting the timing just right but I am getting better with that.

Also, the UPS was a little too rough when they delivered mine and I talked to the Excalibur owner and he sent me a new motor right away. The customer service is excellent.

The only thing I wished I had done was ordered more teflex sheets when I bought mine. I use mine all the time- mainly for fruit leathers or breads. It cost me more to buy them later because I had to pay for shipping the second time.

So to answer your question, I am very glad that I bought one with the timer but if you can figure out how to time it all from the get go you probably don't need it as much.

Hi Eric,

I agree with Tracy. I too have the 3926T and love it...I love the timer and not needing to buy an external one. Frankly there hasn't been a time yet where i've needed more than two teflex sheets at a time, but if I were to get anything else, that's what I would buy. You'll love it! I also ordered direct from the manufacturer...even if I paid more in the long run it's worth it.

With 9 Teflex sheets, the 3926T is $130 more expansive, it's maybe worth to buy a $15 external timer?

I got my 2900 with 9 teflex sheets from rawguru.com and love it. His customer service is excellent and his prices are the best. I have used all of my teflex sheets at once when I was making crackers and fruit leather at the same time.
