Has anyone tried both? Can you tell a difference or recommend one over the other for ease of use or stronger flavor?

Thank you.

I know that McCormick (the #1 vanilla extract supplier in the United States) uses bourbon vanilla beans. I have not purchased tahitian vanilla beans, but I have read where some people think they are superior in flavor. I bought the buorbon vanilla beans because I thought they were best at the time. Here is a picture from the farm in which my bourbon vanilla beans came from...

Sharon I have read that actually the Mexican vanilla beans are the best. They others have more hype, but the Mexican are actually supposed to be the best. The vanilla orchid is native to Mexico.

Thanks exurb. I have to agree with you there. My favorite 'extract' is the stuff I have gotten in Mexico. Everytime my mother goes cruising there I put in my request for a glass bottle of the stuff. I've tried (smelled actually) the McCormick stuff after I was so used to the Mexican extract and nearly died. It doesn't even come close.
