Hey guys, I was reading a few posts about Carol Alt and how people feel that they should be totally raw, or it isn't beneficial . I have been trying to be raw since I was 17 years old, and I am now 24. Right now I am on the beginning of my third week and I have a generous amount of weight to lose. I started off at 292 and I'm 5'2. Before I tell you how much weight I've lost in two weeks, let me just say, I had salmon for thanksgiving with a big salad. NO dressing though. I have had vegan cookies to curve my PMS chocolate fix, as well as an avovado salad with shrimp tomatoes and olive oil. I have been so used to beating myself up over not being 100% raw that I I end up starting over each time that I 'mess up' What I am learning with this go round is that overall my way of eating has so drastically changed in the last two weeks that I am dropping like crazy, alittle too fast I think, but just cutting out breads, all meats but fish, no dairy and being raw 90% of the time for the last two weeks has changed my life. So for all of oyu that are hard on yourself about being 100% raw, just remember that it is a gradual change that you can take while still enjoying so much and not denyinig yourself. As of today, my Sunday 2 week weigh in, I weigh 273. I have weighed on 3 different scales and found the difference on each to be a matter of .5 of a pound. I have never in my life. the loss will slow down no doubt, but it is such a motivator to know that you can still consider yourself raw and have a few vegan treats now and again. By the way , my face is like silk and I have not had a tantrum, ( i have anger issues) This is wonderful. Keep the faith guys, and don't lose hope.
Kia :D

Thank you for your encouraging message. You are doing great. Congratulations.

I agree that a gradual change can be okay too. :)

Glad you're doing well! Hopefully you'll be able to give up all meat once you've been at it a while.

That's wonderful that you are seeing so many wonderful benefits so far and not being all raw...just think how much MORE you'll benefit once you go all raw! :D

Alissa's approach, which is the basis of this site, is to try going all raw if only but for 30 days (hence the 30-day challenge) and see how great you feel. There is no deprivation when you can have many delicious recipes and delicious whole, ripe fruit! For many it's not just about losing weight but about gaining health and healing of various things and while yes, your body will see improvements simply by incorporating more raw into an already cooked diet, the GREATER benefit comes with eating all raw.

So, I do appreciate your message, but please keep in mind that this board is to support those who do want to be all raw, though they may not be there YET...but are striving to be. I TOTALLY agree with you about not beaing ones self up when a slip up occurs.

Also, you can have your sweet craving fix with raw foods! Ice cream, cookies, chocolate, cheezecake...it's all there for the taking! :)
