I wanted to try Alissa's banana macadamia nut fudge cookies and the crepes but I can not find raw macadamia nuts. I went to the natural food store where I live and they wanted over $13.00 lb for roasted I can not imagine what raw would cost. Has anyone done these recipes with other nuts? No problem finding walnut, pecans, and cashews although expensive but not $13.00 lb. Let me know please, not as urgent as the question I already asked tonight. :)

cashews soaked will mimic macademia nuts good enough for most recipes.

Good luck.:)

Not quite as thick and creamy but hempseed have a similar flavor! Great for quick mylks/dressings/sauces/creams and so much healthier! I'm a hemp lover!!!!

I have the hemp protein powder and it is green. Does hemp gome in a different color or is it a seed? This may sound dumb to you but all this is new to me.

Oh no, get hempSEEDS! They are white, round and tiny things like sesame seeds. Might not be good for something hearty, but great for saucy things!

the other thing I use as an alternate in addition to the cashews and hempnuts suggested, is pine nuts. They are cheap at Costco for conventional (not organic).

BTW, on that hemp protein, you might want to check out getting the actual hulled hempseeds/hempnuts next time. They are not processed, except to remove the hull. You get the goodness of the raw hemp oil still in the nuts, rather than a product made from what is left behind.
