Hi everyone,

I just made a new friend who is interested in raw. I am planning to loan her a couple of books (including Alissa's, of course), but I also want to make her some raw goodies to get her started. I was thinking I could make her some flax crackers and possibly some date nut torte.

Can you tell me what recipes you use to spark people's interest in raw? Or what recipes you think non-raw people seem to like? I've been eating really simply lately and haven't been making recipes, so I'm not sure what else to try. Oh, and the recipes need to be kinda portable so I can wrap them up and take them to her easily.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

I think it would kind of depend on what your friend likes ... but if sweets are a favorite, then the date nut torte is a definite winner!! I've never had anyone turn that down.

Gazpacho soup is nice.
dates stuffed with macadamia nuts are good munchies (sweet and crunchy)
Alissa's flax crackers are wonderful -- team them up with some guac - soooo good.

For sweets, Alissa's fudge balls or date-nut torte.

For bread/dehydrated - the ONION bread is very yummy. Not in Alissa's book but it's on this site.

I find flax crackers to be too hard on my body (dries me out), but the onion bread has less flax in it, and tastes yummy and is more "bready". Make a guacamole dip to go with it!

I've had some success with crepes. The banana leather makes a perfect crepe wrap.
