I'm seventeen, a college student, and have had difficulty with my weight, and overall health, since I was seven. I had my gallbladder removed when I was 12, and I have suffered from IBS for as long as I or my parents can remember. In short, my digestion is dreadful. I felt so much better when I ate raw, and I need to get back into eating that way. I'm so glad that Alissa has started a forum where newbies can get advice and support. I look forward to conversing with some fellow raw food enthusiasts. :D
wow, to be so enlightened at 17!
Welcome from another "newbie" and well wishes on your path to comfort & health.
Are you living "at school" in the dorms?
My first two years of college I was on campus, the dining commons were amazing. Lots of raw food & lots of junk there too.

I'm at community college at the moment, and living with my father...AN HOUR AND A HALF AWAY! lol -Life can be funny that way- The cafeteria here is disastrous. I have never seen anything fresh, let alone vegan, to eat so I always bring my own food. Taco Bell and Pizza Hut just aren't my thing. I'm sure if I was in a university, the cafeteria would be better...but I'm not. ;) I'm still trying to find the college/university I want to attend. I'm young so I have time. :)
Thanks for replying! Hope to speak with you again.

You're lucky to find the raw lifestyle at 17. I was 17 when I discovered it and now i'm 18, so it's been a year. A year of changes, slips, ups, downs, but ultimately I've learned that this is the path I must follow for my life :) I too am going to a community college.

Thanks for posting Dreamer. Yeah I'm very glad that I figured out nutrition at a young age. It's been an obsession of mine for a long time. (about 6 years now...I've always been an herbalist hippie thanks to my bio-major mother) The obsession didn't start for the right reasons, but I'm starting to get there. If nothing else atleast now I have a reason to eat veggie besides vanity, and that would be animals. No sense in eating them if there's so many other foods around to sustain the body with. I never cared for meat that much anyway, my father forced me to eat meat when I was little.
Anyway...Where do you go to school, and have you picked your major yet? I haven't picked mine so I'm always curious as to peoples choices. ;)

Ah yes, that might be a challenge. Well good luck to you! You are way ahead of the game, really!
