I just bought dates and to be honost I never had one before and they are so yummy.

Question: I just bought store bought in a little plastic tub. Tub says " 100% natural, 100% fat free, no additives or perservatives" Are these things like veggies...raw naturally? Does anyone know if they are 100% raw or do I need to go somewhere special like Traders Joes to buy them.

I tried a "straganoff" recipe which came out more like a stew. It had Tahini in it, curry a few other stuff and it was just so yummy. I did heat it to 105 using a thermonater and it satisfied me completly. Of course the jalapenos helped warm it up to. ;) I am not officially 100% raw but this has been so satisfying so far that a have a positive outlook for the future. I orderd Alissa's book and DVD and I can't wait till it comes. I love this website too. I have learned so much here just by lurking. Thanks, Debbie

The best thing to do is to contact the manufacturer. If they do not specify "sun dried", then they may have been heated at a temperature above what we as raw foodist accept as raw. If you will type the brand, then maybe we can tell you.

Hi Debbie!
You haven't had dates until you try them fresh from Date People. They are so awesome. The ones in the plastic tubs from regular supermarkets can't compare (Whole Foods tubs are a little better.) Your strogannoff sounds yummy - can you share your recipe? :)

I'd also love the stroganoff recipe. We've just had our first snow here, and this weather is making me want heavier, comfort foods. Thank you!! :D
