These are delish, and I made the recipe up myself.

Crunchy Date Balls

2 c almonds
2 c dates, pitted
1 1/4 c raisins

Process the almonds in a cuisinart til they are finely chopped. Add the dates and raisins and process it all until the 'dough' holds together. Take one full teaspoon of the 'dough' and form into 1 inch or so ball with moist hands, pressing firmly as you roll it between your palms so the ball gets firm and smooth. Place on cookie sheet and refrigerate til chilled.--then you can transfer them to tupperware with waxed paper in between and keep them in the fridge. These are firm enough to be portable.

Makes about 4 dozen 1 inch or so balls.

YUM!

I got my recipe from Victoria Boutnekos DVD, its dates and almonds in a processor but I add flax meal and coconut, yum ! She also suggest rolling them in coconut or raw carob powder.
For lunch on the run I slice the balls in half and insert a slice of banana to make my own raweo! Sooo good !

I make the same type of thing all the time. I use 1/2 cup of raisins, and 1 cup of nuts (usually a mixture like almonds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, cashews, etc.) and mix all that until its' like the dough. Oh yeah, I add a sprinkle or two of cardamon, nutmeg, and make the balls, and then sprinkle cinnamon on them.....they are great when I want a quick sweet treat. I keep them in the freezer.
PS. The banana raweos sound great....gotta try that.
