View Full Version : over eating
Over time I have developed a terrible eating habit; I tent to eat so much that my stomach is “overly-full”. I notice this more when I eat SAD food.
Maybe this is because I cannot control myself with SAD food.
Does anyone have/had this problem?
How has it been being raw and having this problem?
Thanks
I was like that too before I went raw. When I started eating 100% raw, within a day or two I actually felt full... like satisfied full. And I stopped eating. I think I ate more in the beginning then I do now, but still never like it was. And even when I ate as much as I "wanted" I still lost weight, and never felt wiped out after a meal.

Me too. Me at 5'0 could out-eat my 6'3 hubby. 2 whole dinner plates of stroganoff or pasta. I think it is the MSG and salt. It makes your brain think you are still hungry.
No problem since RAW. I think going 100% made it easy for me, just because there was no trying to gauge how much 10% cooked was.

Many of the raw foods you will eat are inherently higher in Fiber, nutrients & protein quality. Additionally, many have pectins (like apples) or special enzymes (like Papayain) that can help break down old processed food proteins and help purge the body. Eating these higher-bulk foods should help you to feel fuller. Hard to eat 6 apples in a sitting and not feel full! At least for me!
-Try eating a pound of spinash salad at a sitting! Heh..heh....you won't get fat....and you'll have my undying admiration! ;)

Yes, I could eat an entire large pizza (veggie of course) with 3 large pepsis, and still want ice cream when I got home,
now on raw, I can eat one medium salad or 2 pieces of fruit and be full.
I can't even drink an entire smoothie all in one sitting.

I still over-eat until my belly is too full.
That's one of the bastians I'll conquer here pretty soon. I'm working on tiny ( but large ) areas or niggly things of refinement since my "self" doesn't seem to want to comply to some things right now. I've not the current energy to argue with my "self" on it. No fretting; I shall.
I noticed that I was over-filling my belly for the last 18 months. No doubt it showed in my clothing..and every OTHER area of my body. I continued to over-eat straight through transition ( but with Alissa's permission; which I gratefully accepted ), and kept doing so until most-recently.
But, I've been at this for 3 months now - so..I think it could be the time when I work on some more self-control issues. I remember being a very young mother..and trying to work off the diabetic/preeclamptic weight from the baby.. I was SO in control that I was scared of myself. LOL
Well.. it's the other way around this time.
I think it's a very personal issue - it's when you're READY ..and your BODY is read ( sometimes I think our brains and our resolves are ready, but our bodies might not be - yet. I think if our bodies were ready, it wouldn't be such a fight in the long run ).
I was thinking of eating small bites with just one meal a day. Those bites would be chewed about 20 times. ( liquified ) I would put my fork/spoon/hand down in between bites... and work on listening to my body tell me when it is full. I will sit there and just be very still and see if it stays that way. Being that my blood sugar was doing weirdness, I would get the signal I was full after just 1/3 the way through, but 15 minutes or 20 minutes..I was hungry again. I'm do not think that will work. :) So.. that's why I'm going to sit there and listen.
But, before the meal - drink a full glass of water and let it hit the bottom of your stomach for like 15 minutes before eating. And, drink another full glass of water AFTER eating.
I really want ME to slow waaaaaaaaaay down with the shovel to the mouth thing. :)

I was just struggling with this very thing and too embarassed to post a note about it. I throw down too! I eat the biggest salad in the world every day for lunch, with 1/2 avo and seeds and oil, tons of spinach and tomato and onions. I have smoothies or fruit for breakfast. Supper is miso and/or another gargantuan salad. Then I have to have a bite of something sweet. So I mixed nuts and raisins and drizzle with honey and/or carob powder. Then I'm in heaven. I think the connection between my brain and stomach doesn't work. Because it takes a long time for me to know I'm full. Then I'm TOO FULL! It happens every day! How does this stop?
When I sit down to eat, I genuinely think I'm that hungry. And I can eat for 30 minutes. I take my time with my food. But I eat a LOT. And yes I've lost about 30 pounds and kept it off. I don't gain weight even eating like this. But I think it surely stresses my body out. ???
Anybody got any suggestions? This is getting old.

i "throw down" here too. I am sooo over-eating nuts and seeds (fat) that its reached critical. I can tell with the scale that it is effecting my weight goal when I do this. They are so easy to reach for, and although I wish for it to happen, at that time I cannot switch my craving to a raw piece of veggie from the fridge. I don't want to always grab a peice of fruit as I eat a predominance of them, and it can kinda funk with my blood sugar.
I think they sweeten the raisins in the "go raw" mix from trader joe's. anybody else taste a difference? It could be what's setting me off.
Funny, i've lost 30 lbs, but I FEEL rolly-polly after eating those nuts. Must be psychological.

That's how I feel too! But my tummy sticks out bloated. And I can get that way from even eating fruit or greens. But nuts always do it. I've starting taking NOW brand Bromelain to help digest the protein in the nuts/seeds. But I can't tell any difference really.
