Tell me about your fat intake:
What amount fat are you eating? from what sources? Did you do that much from the start? Did you lose weight on that amount? How did you decide on that amount? Was it a process? Is there a general guideline for the newbie?

I think you'll find that many people on raw don't bother with counting fat grams or restricting fat sources. When I was first raw, I ate an avocado or 2 every day, had soaked nuts every few days. Yes, I did lose weight.
The freedom with raw is that separating foods into categories (fats, carbs, proteins, whatever the voodoo thing du jour is) and counting them up by grams, is neither desired, nor necessary. The body, once one has been on raw for a sustained period of time, will tell you when it wants you to cut down on the fatty foods. For instance, I now do not eat avocado every day, as suddenly it is unappealing to me. Then I'll eat an avocado for 3 days in a row. I don't care for nuts every day. I often forget to soak them and don't often want them enough to be bothered. When I eat them unsoaked, I don't feel too great.

I haven't the foggiest idea. I eat what I want, when I want. People have been telling me I look the best they've ever seen me and I feel better than I ever have. I absolutley love the freedom of being raw.

In the beginning, I ate whatever I want, however much I wanted and this included LOTS and LOTS of nuts. I lost over 30 lbs. in 37 days (but I had/have a lot to lose).
Now I have cut back on the nuts (sorta consciously) because I wasn't allowing enough hunger for a good variety of greens and fruits. Basically, I try to eat a good variety of fruits and veggies FIRST, then later if I'm still hungry, I'll have a handful of almonds or some seeds. I've never counted fat grams.
I have read time and time again that most people start off RAW with more fat in their diet to make up for the fullness one felt after eating cooked food. After time this naturally levels off (and the time it takes varies from person to person).

Thanks so much for your input. I didn't mean the actual counting of fat grams, just an estimate, like, 2 avocados, or hand ful of nuts, or a nut pate meal.... Thanks again.

As the others have posted I also just eat what I want when I want and it seems to work perfectly! But to answer your question about what I actually do eat daily that contains fat it varies a lot.
I might have several days that I eat a lot of guacamole, then I am tired of it and am hungry for nut pates, and then after a few days of that I am into trail mix of nuts and dried fruits. Then the cycle begins again!
The longer you are raw the more you really can "hear" your body asking for what it wants/needs. That is part of the beauty of eating this way, I have never been in touch with my hunger mechanism and now don't overeat or binge anymore. I love it!

In the beginning - I shoved anything raw in my mouth. Copiously. I ate unsoaked ( cuz me forgots! ) nuts by the FIST-FULL. I lost INCHES - not many lbs. I was healing from the inside out, first.
I will sometimes eat a handfull of nuts by themselves. I have no idea why I do that. I'll put nuts and seeds in my salads. Love to do that. I've not been making many recipes lately, but when I do.. it's nut this...and nut that...and chili this...and pate that.. I adore WALNUTS. Tomorrow I go and see if our stores are carrying hulled macadamias ( oh.. such smoothies..but whoooo... thick! ). It's awesome to sit down long enough to ask your body what it needs. Has anyone ever - out loud - asked their body what I needed ??
My body said to slow down on the fat - so I started making dressings with little or no oils. I like them better this way. I dropped 10 lbs almost immediately. :) Nothing TOLD me to stop eating oil so much, I just KNEW to make the dressings with water and Nama Shoyu instead.
My body quit eating avocados, too. I don't care for them AT ALL now... ( weird )
My body went almost 10 days with no fruit ( except dried cherries - unsulfered ) - and tonight, I must have eaten 4lbs of it in one sitting. My brain is zinging! My body needed that, badly.
I consciously felt that if I wanted to actually see poundage gone, I would have to watch the solid fats and the separated fats. However, I didn't TRY to do it; because I honestly didn't feel like fighting myself I didn't even NOTICE that I wasn't eating avos anymore until they were going bad. I LOVE Nama Shoyu...so.. that and lemon juice... LOOK OUT.. Olive oil now feels so... like.. engine lubricant. Besides, our oils were not raw. Hmmmmm..... LOL. I drink a bit of flax seed oil instead ( green smoothy that..which I have to start again..) My husband changed his dressing recipe and made one with a huge amount of oil. OH.. UGH!!! Nasty!! It tasted horrible... and I can remember when if I DIDN'T have olive oil I was feeling really panicky.
As for counting - couldn't care less right now. I'm intrigued by Dr. Cousins and the 8.1.1 level.. but I'm NO where near that. I think I'll work on that in the Spring. I'm still dealing with "issues" that...if aren't watched more closely ( and they shall be ) then ...I hate to think.
Aren't our bodies amazing??
At tops, at present, I'm down 25 lbs. And LOOOOOKING... GOOOOOOOOD
