I have been 100% raw for five days. I have had headaches and lightheaded ness quite a bit. In Alissa's book, she says that if you want to lose weight, then eat less nuts and oils, if you are an athelete, then eat more of them. I am trying to lose weight and I like to run and lift weights. When I don't eat enough nuts, I am light headed and headachy, no energy. When I eat enough nuts to stop those symptoms, I gain weight.

One thing I've found in myself and w/ others I work with ~ IF I had gone one more day ~ the detox symptoms would have gone away and I'd have felt more life and more energy than I ever have.
There are other fats besides nuts and other grounding foods also.

Don't quit!!! The reason you are having headaches is because your body is getting rid of all the toxins. For some people it takes longer. I found that eating lots of fruits and fresh juices helped me when I was detoxing. When the headaches leave, you will feel wonderful and free! Just remind yourself that if you go back to cooked, you won't be able to rid yourself of any of it. This too shall pass. Keep reading here and just take one day at a time. :)

You CAN get through this. As stated, the headaches are caused from toxins being released into your blood stream. Quitting will only keep you toxic.
An enema could relieve your headache within minutes, as it helps flush sitting toxins out of your colon. Moist heat, such as those microwave bags will relieve the pain and pressure in your head. Drink lots of water to help flush your system and skin brushing will help you detoxify faster. Sleep a lot if possible. Hot baths help wash toxins from your skin. Essential oils can help relive some pressure also.
You are standing in a gateway. If you quit and go back, you go back to all you knew and all you experienced prior. You must have chosen to try this for a reason. If you go forward, you will find yourself in an incredible new state. Detox will change how you feel, how you vibrate. It is the gateway to a brighter, clearer , more vibrant world. You are almost there.
Trust your strength and ability. Trust the new place you are being led to. You already know familiar. Now you have the chance to discover the incredible unknown. How good can you feel in this lifetime? You are on the threshold of finding out.
Go for it! You deserve it. It is SO worth it. You can do this.
Waiting for you on the other side~

You have to eat loads of fruit if you are running. Fruit = carbs = energy. Make sure you are eating plenty of fruit.

Also -- perhaps your experience in gaining weight when eating more nuts is from before you went raw. Five days isn't enough time to see something like that. When eating SAD, nuts are added to the bad-fat foods and cooked foods that your body is under siege from. Alissa's advice is for when you're solidly on the raw and living foods lifestyle, not at first. She doesn't advise limiting nuts when you begin -- just look at her 30 days of menus which are full of nut-rich dishes. It's enough at first for your body to be adapting to the incredible nutrients and enzymes in raw foods; you don't want to limit the good fats that you body needs.
In my opinion, the lightheadedness and dizziness isn't necessarily from detoxing -- it could very well be from eating too lightly and still expecting your body to perform under physical exertion. You haven't said exactly how much nuts you're eating, though, so it's hard to tell.
Like Revvell said, you will almost certainly lose weight just by being raw -- especially if you're eating lots of greens and fruits. Don't worry about your fats -- a handful of nuts a day isn't too much. Well ... depending on how big your hand is!!

Wow! You all are amazing! I soooo appreciate all of the words of encouragement and wisdom!!
I stayed raw for Thanksgiving, and am still raw, seven days in! :D
Okay, I will let my body do what it needs to and just stay off the scale for the next 30 days... oooh, only 23 now! Yeah!
My jeans are tighter today and that worries me a bit. But I am following Alissa's 30 days of recipies and eating fruits and veggies. This week I found that the veggies seem to give a different sort of energy, does this sound right to anyone?
