I am craving cream of mushroom soup w/rice and chicken SAD. What is my body telling me it needs? I just had a banana to try and shut it up, thinking that maybe I was just hungry, but the cravings have gotten stronger. Any help - as I am new to this and haven't learned to recognize my cravings for what they are "A request for something nourishing and healthy for me."
Thanks.

This doesn't necessarily mean your body is asking for anything in particular...what it sounds like to me is that you possibly may be detoxing and bringing up old things you used to eat. Like sometimes people will smell or taste chicken...they're detoxing and the body is bringing up and clearing out old foods.
So, just try to hang in there and keep eating raw and try to keep your mind on something else other than food at this time if possible.

Cream of Mushroom Soup
3 tbsp almond butter
1/2 C warm/hot water
1 large portobello cap
1 tbsp nama shoyu or tamari
salt & pepper to taste
whirl around in blender and add:
1-2 shitaki mushrooms, diced
This is really good. When I want a gravy or sauce, I use less water.

Thank you so much. I did try just eating a couple of RAW mushrooms and it seemed to put my stomach/mind monster on hold. I appreciate the quick responses. I will copy the cream of mushroom soup recipe for a try.
I have a feeling that my detox will be bad, nothing I do to change my body ever happens without extreme measures. I pray I have the willpower to fight them off. I know I at least have the support.

Great - let me know how you like it. You'll notice it doesn't make that much, but it's a rich soup. If you like it you can always double the recipe next time, but it's pretty filling.

you will find that cravings are for a specific food or food group, like wheat or bread, however when you are truly hungry, then ANYTHING will satisfy that.
so, if eating something raw does not stop it, then it is a craving, and will go away after a few hours or days.
Best of luck to you. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!
Hi,
I made this for lunch today and it was wonderful !
It was very rich so I just added a little more water, but this is a keeper !
Thanks !

Thanks, Sharon, I'm going to try this, I love creamy mushroom soup, and I just got a KTech blender, so this will be great to try it out on!

you could also try the pesto stuffed mushrooms and see if that satisfies both cravings. If you continue to crave the birdies or other critters, you could check on your B-12, and/or try to eat more higher protein foods. When I want to increase my protein I just go lower on the fruits and more on the veggies and nuts, sometimes I add some sprouted higher protein grains like quinoa.
you might also be craving the warmth of eating soup, when that happens to me I drink warm water, maybe with lemon in it.
craving the rice could be more of a starchy/addictive thing, craving an easy hit of serotonin. You could try making sure that you have some consistent moderate exercise to improve the happy chemicals in the body thay way. don't cave in to that one!
