I am trying to invent a recipe (or find one already invented) for some type of raw crackers with a good amount of sea vegetables in them. I love flax crackers, so I think I could start with Alissa's basic flax cracker recipe and flavor it up.

Any ideas on what kind of sea vegetable to use or how to incorporate it into the crackers? My experience with seaweeds is rather limited, so I'm not sure which kind of sea vegetable would work best in a flax cracker or how to treat it (soak, then puree maybe?)

Advice is appreciated. :D

There are many crackers and prepared raw treats in California that are essentially sunflower pate (try Nomi Shannon's as printed in Alissa's book) either laid on or wrapped in nori sheets. They are absolutely delicious!! You can flavour them different ways for fun too - Mexican, Curry etc.

Cheers,

Oh great idea! I never thought to do that. I bet it would look really pretty too -- green on one side and cracker-y on the other. I'll definitely try this and report back with results. Thanks for the suggestion.
