This is the question that my youngest ds (7) was asked the other day when we ate out for lunch. We were all looking at our menu's when the waitress asked him if he'd like fries or broccoli. Then as we weren't expecting anything in the vegetable area he paused and smiled then said "broccoli!"
The waitress, my dw, older ds, and I gasped! We couldn't believe it. Even though the broccoli was steamed it was a good choice for him. I truely believe he'll come around in time. The waitress laughed and said "You have a heck of a son there! I wasn't expecting him to say broccoli." She smiled and then continued on her day.
We all continued on as well, and I had a smile on my face and in my heart about what he did. I know he felt good about the decision he made, because he was all smiles and proud of himself. He's been very interested in the food I'm eating lately. I think he's getting closer to following me. That's exciting.
(This was a big step for a terribly addicted SAD food family)

That's great to hear! I am sure you were beaming as he said he wanted a vegetable over fries!
That's a great step and it's great that he's showing interest in your food that you're eating.
Before we know it, you will have a raw family!

Don't you love when they make the healthy choice.
Just recently I was at a wedding with my 2 year old and she siad she was thirsty. I did not hear her and someone else handed her a glass of soft drink. She took a sip and then spat it straight back out 9all over the table). Looking at me she said "water please mummy". Got to love them!!! Of course eveyone else was shocked. She loves her fruit too and munches on carrot and celery sticks with me. I love too that I can give her chocolate whenever she asks - combination of banana, date, honey, vanilla and a touch of cocoa - she never feels deprived.
The best thing I love though is when she sees me eating my veggies she says "proud of you mummy" and when she eats her she says "proud of me mummy" with a big smile ...............
..........children are here so we can fall in love every day!!!!

Quite impressive! He's very lucky to have a daddy who's setting a good example, instead of one sitting on the couch drinking beer and eating polish sausages :p

LOL - KMIK was that your daddy? My Daddy smoked a pipe and ate twinkies. It didn't last too long :(
Timmy that is great about your little one. What a proud moment for you.
LOL, Thankfully, no.
My Dad is German, and he used to eat raw ground beef (scary  I did too! On rye bread with onions on top. See what parents can make their kids do?) But he did have concerns about the environment... and fortunately that's what us three kids picked up on. My oldest brother is a lacto-ovo vegetarian and my baby brother is raw, so we just took it a few steps further than dear old Dad. :)
Sorry about your Dad :( I'm still holding on to hope for mine!

Timmy,
That's an awesome story. Starting good habits now will last a lifetime. When my son was a baby we had a huge organic garden and as soon as he could crawl he'd go out there to eat, picking whatever colorful veggie looked good at the time. I guess he liked that better than the food I made him in the Vitamix. Now that he's 31, his favorite meal is a huge salad filled with everything he can get his hands on. Good habits last forever!!
You're doing a great job with your kids Timmy!
