A good friend of mine is really interested in RAW. She lent me her Champion juicer for as long as I needed it. I just returned it, and she mentioned that she bought a pumpkin and was told that she could run the seeds through her juicer and make pumpkin seed butter. Then she asked what she should do with the pumpkin. She asked if she could eat it raw, and I said yes....but now I need a recipe. I know she has a small, round dehydrator, so I was thinking some cookies would be great, but any recipe for something tasty, for someone interested in RAW, I would love to give it to her. Especially since she let me borrow her juicer, and was so excited for ME that I enjoyed using it. Thanks ya'll....converting one at a time! :D

Wendi, I thought you needed the hulless pumpkin seeds to get the butter. Did the pumpkin seed butter work out for her? I can't imagine the seeds from a regular pumpkin with the tough outer shell to make nice seed butter. There are special varieties of pumpkins that they get the "pepitas" from, you know those green pumpkin seeds you find raw. Those pumpkins grow the seeds in them just like that with no outer shell, not like the white seeds from most average pumpkins where the actual seed is inside the tough white shell.
Looking forward to anyone's pumpkin recipes -- we grew a bunch of pumpkins this year, and so far they're just sitting there, haven't used any yet.

I told my friends that the actual seed you would run thru the juicer would be the green part on the inside of the tough white shell. I guess I was wrong as to where that little seed came from. That just shows my ignorance of where all this fresh food comes from  . OH well....I guess I'll give them a call and let them know they might not get the same seeds they need to make this fresh pumpkin seed butter. Unless someone tells me otherwise.... I'll be waiting.
