I have to have an x-ray of my upper GI with contrast. I'm a little nervous because of what may be IN the contrast of barium. I don't want to put that stuff in my body :( I'll feel so toxic. My mom said to fast the day before and the day after to try to get it out faster, any suggestions? I'm almost at the point where I don't want the x-ray, even though it could be potentially harmful if I don't do it.

It is entirely up to YOU, what you put, or allow someone else to put into your body.
I say, "NO WAY" to ALL medical proceedures, but this is me.
I have no idea what your issues or challenges are, that make the doctors WANT to do that to you.
"If in doubt--Don't", that is my motto.
But, whatever your choices, I wish you abundant health.

I had this procedure some years ago. It was not a pleasant experience. I regret doing it because I think that my symptoms and fears at the time did not nessesitate such drastic action and they found nothing but at the same time I have to say that it was nice to know that they found nothing and perhaps the stress of not knowing will do your health more harm than the procedure.

This is true. The proceeure is to look for something they did surgery on last year (potentially dangerous NOT to have the surgery) and they symptoms are returning as if I never had the surgery...
