For the past 15+ years, I've gotten my Thanksgiving turkey the Sunday before the holiday. It seemed rather weird not getting one yesterday. We went to the market to get some of the basic items for our holiday meal, and saw all the displays of turkeys. I quickly distracted my husband so he wouldn't cave and suggest to buy one.
The following menu is what we are making for Thanksgiving. Since there is only two of us, we are only making a small amount of each. I've been "testing" some of these recipes for the past few days, to make sure I get it right on the big day- my first raw Thanksgiving!
For starters:
Sliced veggie plate with salsa
Spicy nuts
Pesto stuffed mushrooms
To drink:
Egg nog
Beet "cabernet"
Main meal:
Noasted Turkey
Cranberry sauce
Pumpkin bread
Mashed potatoes
Dressing
Waldorf salad
Carrot/cabbage salad
Corn on the cob with "butter"
Dessert:
Apple pie w/ carmel sauce
Date Nut Torte
Sergei's Amazing Truffles
Sounds like a pretty good feast, yes? I can't see where we won't be satisfied after all that! :D

Hahaha! I think y'all better head on over to Rawpriestess and Dragggon's house. Remember, I am a novice-she's the master! I just hope my stuff is edible!
Fruitbat,
Oh yes, Mandy will get her share. She wouldn't have it any other way. Actually, she has a placemat that we put next to our dining room table and for the holidays we give her a pretty cloth napkin with a ring of dried leaves and berries around it, so she has her own "place setting" on the floor. If she'd eat in a high chair, I'd probably do that. LMAO!!
Sharon,
I don't have a digital camera. :( We are getting one for Christmas though and then y'all be sorry! :D I am really excited about getting one. I'm afraid that my dishes won't look as professional as the ones I see posted here though.
Rawkinlocs,
Ummmmmm, a LIZARD?? Oh my, I freaked out when a chameleon got inside our house! *shiiiiiiivers* The lizard must stay outside.... about 10 miles away. HA!

What a spread! I wish my Thanksgiving was going to be all raw food ( I will stay raw).
Alas, my husband would not like that, though. I told my kids, that whatever they make, they have to make a raw version for me! So at least there will be plenty of choices. I am thankful for plenty of choices!

It's all perfectly normal, yes? :D ha!
<<Wow, that's a huge amount of food for you two... >>
Well, not really. I'm only making a small amount of each - 1/2 to 1/3 of the original recipe, and some of it will keep for more than a day. My husband is only about 50% raw, so I want to have enough variety on hand to cover my butt and so that he doesn't feel "deprived". Plus, if he doesn't like one thing, maybe he'll like another dish... I am hoping that with enough tastes and textures he'll realize that raw can be just as varied and tasty (tastiER!) than cooked! :D

Just remember to make it with lots of love.
If you get stressed out for any reason, step away from the food and take a breather.
Raw food always tastes better made with loving hands.
