When people say that they are "high-raw" does that mean that they are at the level where they are consuming the most raw food that they have. (not quantity)...which may or may not be 100%? (like you can be "high-raw" if you are eating raw at 85%) I might be way off the mark but I am just not sure.

high raw is a little like "half pregnant" LOL... Most people who use the term "high raw" aren't close to a hundred percent, there's no offiicial cutoff, but a lot of sources that reccommend a "high raw" diet are talking about aiming for a minimum of 70% raw... rather than a complete change of lifestyle to a 99 or 100% raw vegan diet, in general high raw seems to refer to people who eat a lot of raw food, but haven't completely abandoned SAD foods, like as a ballpark example they might have fruit for breakfast, a chicken sandwich on bread at lunch with some carrot sticks and sprouts and an apple, salad for dinner (maybe that's even a caesar  )

The percentages usually refer to the percentage of the foods by weight.

Well I have never seen the "actual" definition of high raw, but to
me it means the majority of one's diet is raw. Anywhere from 75% up.
When I hear the term, I think of 85-95%...but that's just my interpretion
of it ...I think the term is used pretty loosely used. If someone is high raw
the rest of there diet is pretty open --meaning.....it could be anywhere from SAD to cooked vegan healthy.
Some people might just eat some brown rice and steamed
veggies or use bottled salad dressings. So I don't think there is a "definate"
answer to your question...too many variables...lots of gray area there.

I try not to stress over the percentages really; just eat as much raw
as one can in their lifestyle and to not beat yourself up or feel guilty if you eat some healthy cooked.

I use this term. My son is high-raw, which means he is not all-raw, but very close to it. He eats fruit all day (morning, midday and evening; he loves smoothies in particular), and the only cooked stuff he has is some rice and beans (with a big salad) in the evening, for his dinner. He is vegan, and bread-free, by the way.

I prefer to use the term high-raw, then percentages, which are always a questionable estimate. But, if I had to put my understanding of the term high-raw in percentages, it would be at least 90%. I would not use the term high-raw to describe a diet that includes animal products.

Best,
Gosia.

Thank you all for your interrpretations. According to your replies I am high-raw sometimes and I am not high-raw sometimes....lol I am still dabbling with this way of eating. I do well all day until I get home from work and need to prepare dinner for the rest of the gang. I try to stay vegetarian as much as possible if not raw but I am still working on it.

Gosia, your web-site is incredible. It is so full of information and such a treasure of photos. I particularly enjoy reading your journal on this site with all the animated characters that you add...you monkey!! :) I will revisit your web-site to spend more time there as it may take hours.

Thanks, I AM a monkey (purely based on the amounts of bananas I eat).

Nuttie, you are doing great. Being relaxed about the process is the key. (I had a tendency to beat myself up for not being perfect and it took me a while to overcome that).

All the best in your jouney.
Gosia.
