View Full Version : I have realised
I was asked to teach my parters Mother how to work her computer it was going to take one hour. but, 5 hours later I was still showing her I was late having my evening meal and I was starving my sugar had dropped and i was shaky.
We had to go to the supermarket to get some money from the cashpoint and by this point I was dithering (it might have been the cold) but I ended up eating a bar of chocolate.
When we got home I ate a banana and went to bed, next morning I was starving hungry but thought I could wait until I had gone to town to do some business. The cake shop was just there smelling nice.(no excuses) i had a vegetable pizza slice. but it didnt stop there. i had more bread through the day.
I woke this morning all lethargic and tired not full of energy like before. I have learned to take food with me from now on. I feel so hungover my mouth is all dry and horrid. I`m back on raw today and I will not be eating bread ever again.
I am having a smothie and i will take satsumas to work i have a box of them. I will take a good bag full. and tonight i will get something nice and raw for my evening meal.
take care and thanks for letting me rant love Pink xx

You've realized one of the most crucial aspects of staying raw (especially at the beginning) -- always have some food with you. Alissa's fudge balls saved my butt so mny times in my first months. I carried them with me everywhere. Plus I always had a banana or three in my bag. Once I had a dehydrator, crackers joined the fruit and fudge balls . . . you get the picture.
Congratulations on your realization and your new start. Sometimes it takes falling off the wagon and experiencing just how awful you feel to make that final total commitment.
Best of luck!
That's how I always fell off too, I wasn't prepared, let myself get hungry... then that cooked monster would get it's claws in me and down the slope I slid.
You have to have a shift in your thinking and habits... this is such an instant gratification world we live in, food (bad food!) on every corner. We never had to worry about getting hungry while we were out. With a little time, you'll establish your new habits and routine and be prepared for any situation :D
Thanks for sharing this with us!

Pink -- When folks "rant and rave" about how they feel after eating cooked food - it helps me (and others I'm sure) with their resolve to stay on the raw path. Thanks for sharing your experience!!
Congrats on making the connection between getting hungry AND tired -- two culprits that make it sooooo hard to stay raw if you don't have something handy. Friends would laugh when I would pull an apple and banana out of my purse, but they were lifesavers many a time ... and still are over a year later.
Best of luck on your raw journey --

yes, pink, i echo levamssg b/c it helps me too to stay devoted to raw.
i'm going to be flying home today from dc to california, and that reminds me to bring plenty of fruits, veggies, and nuts w/ me. i'm alread going to be bringing a lot b/c i want to take my produce home so it doesn't get spoiled. but i'm now doubly dedicated to it.
yes, being prepared always helps. i'm learning it's essential.

A friend of mine has been sort of going raw. What I mean is, I mentioned to him about a year ago, only that I was eating "mostly raw now" and, whenever he'd see me or come over I'd be eating such. So, I had no idea for the longest time, but he's been eating high raw! What I did notice is that he would have much more energy than before; he was always so fatigued in the past.
So, anyway, one day he came over and said, "You know, I'm really craving some hashbrowns!" (This was one of his favorite foods.)
I said, "Oh, really?"
"Yea, I'm going to go get some -- want anything?"
"Nope."
So he goes and buys some. Greasy as hell, of course; making them himself would have even been better. He brings them back over and he sits on the couch and eats.
Halfway through, he takes in a deep breath and his eyes begin to droop.
By the time he's done, he lets out a big sigh, leans back, and -- no kidding -- falls asleep!
I couldn't believe it. It almost looked staged! He awoke about 15-20 minutes later, completely lethargic, with a massive headache, stomach pains.
My response: :D

You're so funny. :D Thanks for making me laugh. :)
Pink, thanks for sharing your story. It's always great to have a reminder to what even a little bit of cooked food can do to our bodies.
