Any jersey people out there. I am a 35 yo mom of 2 and have recently gotten into this the past few weeks. I have done some reseach and have gradually started to make the switch. Have had a little bit of trouble finding 100% raw products but made my first trip today to Whole Foods Markets and now I am hooked on that place. Lot's of healthy organic products.
Question...What's with Olives? Are they all raw, like fruit? I need some healthy bars that are raw. Does anyone know of name brands of granola bars anf/or cereal that is all raw.
If anyone needs a buddy let me know..thanks,
Debbie

Hey Debbie,

I'm from South Jersey (Vineland, Millville, Bridgeton area). I actually took a trip to Whole Foods tonight to show my Mom what an awesome place it is. I am hooked too!

I am almost 100% RAW, but I am finding it hard to give up my coffee. I won't eat cooked food, but I don't consider myself ALL RAW because I still drink a cup of coffee per day.

I am learning so much from this website; you picked a great place to start! Everyone is so nice and full of good advice and tips. I am not sure about the olives because I never liked them even when I ate a SAD diet.

Where in South Jersey do you live? Maybe we are close. I am a 35 yo and I am homeschooling my 5 children. I love eating Raw, but I wish I knew others who ate this way. I get tired of people always disapproving of my eating habits or trying to so hard to discourage me from this lifestyle. It would be nice to have lunch with someone who actually ate the same way that I do.

It's great to meet someone from my area..lot's of vegetarian groups but not much for raw. I did find one cafe in Lancaster that is raw and has seminars. I will send you the link when I get home. I am at work now, I am a RN at Cooper Hospital. I live in Washinton Township..Turnersville. Vineland is very close. I would love to meet you. I found a couple places in Philly that are raw that I can't get anyone to go with me. that's amazing that you homeschool 5 !@!!!! Kids. Wow. I have a seven yo daughter who just started 1st at a local Christian school and have a 3 yo son in daycare on the days I work. Just those 2 is practicaly more then I can handle, especially the boy. I will post more later. My email at home is deb1_icurn@comcast.net

Scroll down to the bottom of the page under blue heading Down to Earth: New Jerseys Raw presence...this has links also to organizations (i think)

Scrool down to Phillys Little Secret and info about the little restaraunt in philly is there with the link.

Maybe if we can get this out on the boards more we could organize our own little raw get together here in our area

That sounds so cool!.. I would love to meet other raw foodists in the area. Maybe we could meet once a month. Everyone could bring a raw dish, we could exchange recipes, talk about what it's like to "go raw" and just make some new friends. It can get so lonely eating this way when everyone else around me is eating junk. I think it would also be a great motivator for those times when I struggle to stay raw. I need some support! Let's see if we can get something together. Even if it's only a couple of people to start, maybe others will join later.

GREAT idea Debbie!

I just replied to your previous response to my alcohol question and the hubbys. This is funny. Where are you at? I am in Turnersville which is in Washington Township. I would absolutly love it if we could plan a get together. Maybe we could "advertise" so to speak here on the boards. We could arrange to meet at one of the restaraurants I mentioned. I have only been into this a few weeks but I have learned a lot from this site and it would be great to network with others. Maybe we could form our own 'society'. I say that because i have a vegetarian friend who belongs to a group called something like 'The South Jersey Vegetarian Society'. They have their own website and have like monthly get togethers and other planned outings, etc. They take turns hosting at peoples houses. It would be fun to initiate getting a group like that going. I work 3 twelve hour shifts a week plus I go to school on Tuesday nights and I have 2 kids so needless to say, I need a few days notice to plan. That said I love every opportunity to get out of the house for a break for a few hours. That may be why I LOVE the gym. It's the best motivator to stay fit. I run for about 30 minutes then go sit in the hot tub for an hour. Anyway, tonight was the first of 3 12's ina row. My email is
deb1_icurn@comcast .net email me or post onto this board. If I don't respond immediatly it is because of my schedule and the latest I will be back on this computer will be Monday night. Sometimes I can sneak a few minutes on line at work but not always...
take care,
Deb :
