I was in Laguna Beach, CA a couple of weeks ago and wow, I ate lunch at the Stand on Thalia Street :) It was sooo delicious! I had an almond milk shake with bananas and strawberries. I rested and then, ate my Guacamole Salad...guacamole on greens, cabbage, jicama--yum! It was my first experience eating at a place that has raw cuisine.
It was so divine...We ate outside in the sun with a gorgeous breeze, right next door to Laguna Beach Cyclery (a very cool bike shop!). I thought I died and went to heaven...LOL.
If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend this place...very laid back and casual...I enjoyed myself people watching as well ;)

littleangelbear,
I CAN'T WAIT to try it!!! I live in the L.A. area, but I get down there once in awhile. I'm sooooo glad to know there's a raw place in Laguna. I understand it's only open a couple days a week?
Thanks for the info; glad to hear it's good!

I love the Stand! I live close to it. I've never tried that almond milk shake, though. That sounds delicious!! Mmm, I can't wait!
Thanks for mentioning The Stand! We'll be in Laguna Beach this Saturday to visit friends and do a little shopping, it will be great to stop in there for lunch!

I think they are open pretty much every day...I have their menu...I live in Michigan (for now LOL) and I thought I'd take it home for ideas...We don't have any raw places to eat...a few good vegetarian restaurants but nothing raw--yet.
I fell in love with Laguna Beach...I need to manifest some capital though I think first before I move ;)
Alissa lists it in the back of her cookbook--I found it by accident walking around at night so I came back the next day...
I was mostly excited about the food, but there were some cute tattoo'd men eating near me too...*Giggles out loud*.

Just had to share that I went to The Stand last night - I had an amazing Almond milk/date shake (YUMMY!) and the guacamole salad. I just loved this little place - the people who worked there were very friendly and didn't mind questions (as they served cooked vegan food, too, and I wanted to get it raw) and just sat at there little outdoor tables as the sun went down and enjoyed a wonderful raw meal. . .just a little way from home.
:D

There is also a raw food place in San Diego. I am going to go there when I am down there. I'll let you know how it is it is called "Cilantro Live". I have never been to one living in Bakersfield.

Karen--very cool! Yay! I am glad you enjoyed it :)
Diane--thanks for the heads-up about the one in San Diego. That is very helpful.
I am going to be going to California at least once per year, but am working on living there, so this is very helpful :)
Anyone eat at Juliano's Raw in Los Angeles? I didn't want to navigate L.A. on my own for the first time so I didn't go LOL.
I hear that Topenga has a lot of natural food places to eat at...further north in the mountains from L.A. area, but I hear it's not too bad. Not sure if they have a raw restaurant or not up there.
Bear hugs,
