Hi there

this is my 4th attempt or so at 100% raw in the last 6 months (I should not say attempt this time as I am 100% committed now).

This time I have no real detox symptoms (as in no headaches, aches etc) except I am more tired than normal. It is hayfever season here for me in Australia and am not sure if this is tiring me or the raw. I get hayfever for one month only and I sneeze like 50 times a day and I mean whole of body sneezes plus itchy eyes and runny nose. I am hoping raw will fix thisd for me,

I exercise 1-2 hours a day (weights. yoga, cycling, walking etc) and am ok most of the day but this last week I have to drag myself out of bed when ususally I am getting up easily ad I want ot nap mid afternoon (not possible). Is this normal when 100% raw? or maybe it is just the hayfever that is making me tired this time - I am not sure.

Any advice would be appreciated. I am needing to sleep more than I normally would and finding this difficult especially as I have a 2 year old to look after as well as working 2 part time jobs.

Just do not give up!!! I would rather you miss a workout than harm your body with coffee etc... hang in there. I have incredible amounts of energy from eating fruit - I also work out 2-3 hours a day and I train others as well.

thanks for that - missing a workout for myself is not a problem but I am a part time gym instructor so missing those workouts is not possible. My other job is an environmental officer so I have to read large documents and be on the ball not to mention active for my 2 year old. I am sticking with raw this time as mentally I find it makes me happier and clearere. I guess I just wanted to know if this was usual or maybe I am not eating correctly e.g. too many nuts, not enough greens etc. or tiredness a detox symptom?

Any thoughts are most appreciated

My guess is it is still detox. Sometimes I feel like detox is being blamed for everything... but I guess that's usually the case :) It sounds like you are not in a position to really take it easy and rest, but do your best to listen to your body and try to get to bed a little earlier or something.

I've found that when I'm raw, it's safe to listen to my body, because it's now being honest with me (as opposed to before when if it wasn't telling me to sleep, it was telling me I needed more chocolate!)

I was exhausted too by the end of my first week, but I really didn't have any other detox symptoms. What helped me was adding green smoothies and cutting back on nuts (which I think tend to slooow people down, both digestion wise and physically). You also may not be eating enough calories for your workouts. I typically work out 2 1/2 hrs./day and find that although I think I am getting enough calories I am not. I've learned to rely heavily on sweet fruit (bananas, mangos) and to cut back on the nuts and that seems to help. I know a lot of people here aren't into counting calories, but for someone who is very active (i.e. over 1 hr in the gym), you definitely want to make sure you're getting enough. I've recently starting using Fitday and love it not only for the fact that I can insure enough calories, I can also track my vitamin requirements (excellent being I am going through a "fussy stage" and not eating a big variety these days). Lots of luck :)
