I was wanting to know if anyone knew of a good place to get raw s.d. tomatoes. I know nature's first law sells them, but they are kinda pricey.
I was talking to a company on the phone that said they made their sun dried tomatoes in the oven at 140 degrees. Would I be able to do that in a dehydrator at like 110 degrees? Has anyone tried that? has it worked?

You most certainly can make your own! I and many others here do it all the time. It's cheaper and you know what you're getting.

Here is an informative thread where RawPriestess gives a good recipe for making them: http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6527&highlight=sundried+tomatoes

We make our own every year from tomatoes we grow. they are also a great way to use up cherry tomatoes. It's easy to do, but they do take a long time to dehydrate at low temperatures, which makes me think that any of them out there have been subjected to higher temps, unless they specify temperature in detail.

Raw Truth recently e-mailed the "Just Tomatoes" site and they indeed have been dried at low temperatures. They are those tubs of fruit you see in the produce department of your health food store. They have the organic variety too.
