I am preparing items that I know I will eat during the my transition back into raw foods. Allissa recommends keeping a number or items on hand such as her fudge balls etc. so you can easily grab something already ready to eat when you have those all too tempting cravings for cooked food or when you know you are so hungry and preparing a whole meal is not something you do easily in the beginning. Learning curves, cooked food cravings etc. can cause us to divert our attention away from raw food and right into old habits. So I was wondering what are some of your sure fire winners that you prepare ahead of time that always do the trick for you? Some of mine are: medjool dates stuffed with brazil nuts, dried papaya, coconut caramel chews, crudite plate with already cut up veggies, orange juice with super food. Bananas to eat plain or mix with other fruits. organic baby lettuces ready to put into a bowl, baby carrots, sprouts, micro greens, grape size tomatoes, instant salad. Any others out there?
Have a wonderful day
Lisa

For me, knowing I can indeed have anything keeps me raw. I can grab a handful of raisins, eat an apple or two.

Here are my favorite things to keep on hand

Fresh fruit (always an instant food)
fresh greens (for smoothies and salads)
pumpkin seeds
raisins, walnuts, dates and lemon (to make a date-nut torte)

But for me the simplest is the best.

Here are my essentials

bananas...tons of them! I buy no less than 5 bunches each time I go. They hit the spot EVERY time and you can add agave or honey and cinnamon to make a special treat. So good

Orange Creme smoothie. Samuel Wilson's creation has me hooked on it! I can't say enough about it and it's so filling and SO quick and easy to make!

Coconut macaroons if you have a tendency for a sweet tooth. Rawandnatural posted that recipe.

Jalapeno poppers, Raw Medic posted that recipe. Oh, this one is so good if you are craving warm and crunchy foods. My jalapenos were not that hot, but if you have the right jalapenos then it will cure that spicy craving.

Indian Spinach Dip, in Alissa's book.

Alissa's Date Nut Torte made in balls.

Pesto stuffed mushrooms.

Avocado Mayo used as a dip or put inside of tomatoes or spread on regular tomatoes. Raw Medic posted this recipe under Jalapeno poppers

Tomato soup really hit the spot when I was craving it. Have not made it in awhile, but it could be warmed and would be wonderful. I believe RawTruth posted this one.

This is all off of memory! LOL Hope I got everyone right who posted what.

Green drink, which I don't drink enough of. But, that really helps you get through the day without being really hungry and it's so good for you.

Oh, I guess I should quit now! I just know that those things helped me.

Oh, Alissa's ravolis and the cheese mixture is so good on other things.

Orange Cheesecake! Oh, this hit the spot when I was craving cooked early on! I am going to make that for Thanksgiving too. It's definitely something to have around if you deisre sweet things! Oh, who posted this? I can't remember!

My tastes went to simple and now I am having fun trying out new recipes again!

Ok, better quit now! LOL

veeggee mom~
orange creme smoothie? orange cheesecake??? can I have the recipes, PLEASE?!? Oh my gosh, those sound so good.

I'm finding the staples I need are flax crackers (great for a fast filling snack with guac or almond butter on top)
avocados
frozen berries
bananas
fruits of all kinds
greens for green smoothies
some nuts-dont' need all of them, but at least a couple to make a pate if I'm craving it
raisins
dates-I guess all the "raw food basics"

I'd love to make living breads and loaves, etc. dehydrated things that taste like all my trigger foods. I have Alissa's DVD set so I need to brush up!

Theresann, those are posted in the recipe section...fairly recently too, so just poke around over there or do a quick search using the little banana up top for "orange cream smoothie" and "cheesecake with oranges" and you'll find 'em!

My mainstays are:

bananas (fresh and frozen for ice cream!)
fixings for my green smoothies
salad fixings
cashews
almond butter
flax crackers (savory, plain and sweet)
oat groats for oatmeal
terriyaki almonds
newly discovered and tried- Alissa's onion dip - that stuff is GOOD, though I used cashews as I didn't have mac nuts
fruit, period, but more specifically - apples, grapes, bananas (again), frozen strawberries (for smoothies)

hi Vegeemom-I did find them! They are in a few pages on the recipes board. Thanks for helping! Can't wait to make that cheesecake-I'm gonna bring it to my family on THanksgiving. Hee hee. They know I'm always into those "weird" diets, so they are used to it. They've endured my macrobiotic holidays, vegan holidays, raw food holidays. They think I"m strange, I hope that seeing me having lost weight in only 4 weeks, they might be a little more open to trying it!

A bowl of kiwi slices

Banana with like the others say--drizzled with honey or agave nectar and I also like to put chopped dates
