View Full Version : Fasting after surgery?

Hi all. I'd love some opinions: Yesterday I unfortunately had to have a d&c after miscarrying at 8 weeks along. I want to detox from general anesthesia, stabilize my hormones after all the ups and downs, and prepare my body for our next attempt to get pregnant in a couple months.

Juice fasting sounds like the right thing to do (I've done several before) but I'm trying to decide whether to start my juice fast today. Yesterday (after getting home from the surgery at around 3) I ate a toasted sprouted wheat bagel, some miso soup, and hours later, some raisins and another bagel. Lots and lots of ginger tea. Very little bleeding going on, thank goodness. But I do still feel weak. My head is still a little swimmy and muscles achey from the after-effects of anesthesia so I'd like to get the detox going.

Any opinions on when is the right time vs. too soon to fast? Since I'll be doing a juice fast, I won't be deprived of nutrition, just the opposite. On the other hand, it does take some stamina--mental and physical--to get through.. Any advice appreciated.
