Hello everyone,
It amazes me when i read here that some people have gone on a 30 day juice fast etc.
I have been trying to go on a prolonged juice fast for some months now but i just always give up by day 2/3. Any tips as to how to get past day2/3. I would really love to know. I am about 18kg overweight. The fast will be mainly to get rid of the weight.

Hello ogbaby,

Congrats on your decision! The good thing is that you understand the first two or three days are the worst of it. The second thing is, knowing that, you need to plan accordingly. You must not only plan ahead for your juices by having all the necessary fruit and vegetables you will need, but also for activities. Don't sit around the house. Plan to be busy. Especially plan to exercise. If you are starting the fast on a weekend (like Friday or Saturday), plan to walk for at least an hour in the open air. Do some light stretching before and after. Plan on doing activities that do not revolve around food. When I did my 30 day fast, I drank a couple of gallons of juice per day for the first week. I just didn't want to feel hungry and I wanted that full feeling that food gave me. That was one of two battles you will face. Hunger is the first one. Missing the taste of solid food in your mouth is the other. You have some weapons against these though. One is to plan (as stated above), planning is very important and one of the keys to Victory. Another is the mirror. Whenever you are tempted to break the fast early, look at yourself naked in the mirror and remember why you need to do this and follow it thru. I know this sounds weird but it helped me. Another weapon that I use is prayer. I believe strongly in it. I pray for strength and grace to overcome my appetite. Understanding that the appetite can be a powerful enemy causes you not to underestimate its power (and give in to it). Once I pray, I look with the eye of Faith and see the end of the 30 days and myself much lighter, healthier and fit. Try that also. Keep before you the goal. Keep reminding yourself of it. After awhile it will get easier. By the end of the first week I felt like it wasn't a fast at all. I actually wanted to go another 10 days, but since I had announced it would be a 30 day fast, my wife pretty much pleaded with me to stop it after 30 days LOL. I hope all this chatter helps you a little.

Peace.

Todd

thanks tglasco4, i will do that and keep you posted on my progress. Is it possible for you to mentor me through this? I will really appreciate that.
One other question is tea allowed on a juice fast? ie-black tea maybe with a little honey?

Hi,

I don't think tea is alloud on a juicefast, only self-made juices and fresh water... it might be okay to drink herbal teas, but actually, YOU decide to what to do and what not to do, remember? We don't want to force anything on you, we want you to experience it for yourself. And if you want to try to do a juicefast, it would be best to only drink juices and water, your system can clean out better that way. If you decide to drink black tea as well, you might clean out as well, but maybe not that fast, or maybe not the way a juicefast is supposed to clean you out... btw: I don't think EVERYTHING will get rid off, but a large part of toxins comes out during a 30days juice fast...

I've done 10 days, beginning of this month. There are several threads here on the board about juicing, so you can get some more information on there. If you want to start your juicefast, try to write about it in a juice-thread, or in your journal, under the 30 days challenge, so we can see what you are up to and motivate and support you, okay?

So whatever you decide, do it with your heart, believe in it, do it for yourself, you want to feel better, and you deserve it!

Take care,
Joke

Hiya ogbaby,

I would have no problem coaching you thru it. You can either leave me pm's here or email me. Also, since it may be getting on winter where you live, herbal tea with a little honey may not be a bad thing. Especially if you are planning a fast of 30 days. There is a substitute though, you can squeeze the juice of half a lemon (a good sized lemon) in 8oz of hot water with some honey. This will keep you warm and the lemon will continue the cleanse. I am so glad you are serious about this! It will change your life after 30 days for sure. The point of a juice fast is to cleanse the digestive system and give it a rest while at the same time getting all the nutrients the body needs without eating. I have never done this fast in cold weather as it appears you are about to, so I can understand your desire for something warm. Try the fresh lemon, hot water and raw honey. If it doesn't sit well with you, go with the herb tea. But make sure you are drinking at least a gallon (128oz) of juices each day. You will do very well Ogbaby, make sure you take before and after photos!!

Peace and Warm Blessings to you on your journey.

Todd

Hey Todd,

I have a question for you? I have been under the impression all along that when honey is heated over a certain degree it is extremely toxic to your body. I have read a couple of on-line articles about this and I guess I just must have believed them. So, my question for you, is honey safe to consume in hot drinks? I am going to try and locate one of the artlicles because it also says that is is unsafe to using in your baking. Obviously we don't have to worry about baking but I am sure that some folks on this site still do a little baking for thier families.

We are so blessed to have you on this site. You possess so much good info! Thanks for your input!

I myself have water-fasted up to 34 days before, and I would never say that I exercise a great control over food.....lol! Right now I am on day 3 of another long water fast (it's been considerable time), because the time is right and my body needs it. I will go a minimum of three weeks right now. If anyone else is fasting right now and wants to contact me for support, please feel welcome. I am aceing it, too, and today at the institute (I work for a raw institute) we even had burgers - which are FAB - and I really wasn't tempted at all. I'm past the hurdle. The ride is wild. It really reminds me of how fascinating the body is.....
Good luck to all who are attempting to challenge themselves...
