I've been looking thru the posts, and searching online, for reverse osmosis. What brand does anyone have? 5 stage? 6 stage? What's best? There are so many different types, I'm not sure what would be best. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much! :)

I saw them at Costco, out here for 159.95 with a 5 stage filters. I have a Culligan unit under my sink that is a 6 stage one. I love it too. It gets rid of all the junk in water too. A Must have I think. I would not want to be without one now days. Doug in Calif....... :) ;)

Is it true that these systems waste about 6 gallons of water for every one that it generates. I am really torn as to what to get. I am reading a book that saye to do the following evperiment.
Go to the pool supplies store and pick up a chlorine test kit and test the level in a glass of water. Then place your hand in the glass of water and test again. The chlorine will be all gone because your skin has absorbed it. You pick up as much chlorine from a 15 min shower than by drinking 8 glasses of unfiltered water and breast tissue will pick up 3 times more than other tissue. I have been dragging my heels regarding fitting filtration but it has just moved on to my priority list.

I have a Rainsoft system in my house. The purification, which takes out cholorine goes through my whole house and one spiket outside. I also have a cholorine filter on my showers. Hopefully I'm not getting any cholorine when I shower! I also never go into pools or jacuzzies. At my kitchen sink I have the reverse osmosis. This gets the fluoride out of my drinking water and food prep. This system costs about $4,000.00 but I feel so much better having it.

Some men at my husbands work notice that when they watered their lawns, their grass did not grow like it does when it rains. Ghee, could it be the cholorine in the water?????

Thanks for the input! I checked Costco online (thanks for the tip on them, Doug!), and they have the five stage for $139! Most of the five stage ones that I'd looked at were much more expensive! I'm really leaning towards getting one. I refuse to drink tap water (I don't even give it to my cats!), and bottled water can get expensive (plus, from what I've been reading, it's really not that great for you, either. Better than tap, tho'!) I may have to go ahead and invest!

Helen, the system you have sounds great!!! Except for the price. :) Unfortunately, that's well out of my budget right now. :( Something to think about for later, tho'.
