PLEASE... feel free to join this thread any time ... we loooove having new friends to fast with!!!

Here's are the 'rules' of this thread:

Please do not discuss specific food. Feel free to share "My hubby was eating and it was hard for me." Please don't share "My hubby was eating X, Y and Z..."

The reason we do this is so no one ends up getting a craving from a fasting thread. As a faster we can choose to click on a thread which discusses food but we need the safety within this thread to know food is not discussed. Juices are shared, M/C is shared, green smoothie recipes are shared... but not 'chewable' food.

Please join us... by listening to our theme song (http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=2539741). We all come together... from around the world to fast together and support each other. Please join us!

There is a great deal of info in this stickie (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=62026). Please take a moment to read it.

And here is a thread (http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=61603) where we share our favourite recipes. If you haven't contributed yours, please do!

Here's my commitment:

I'm here to fast. I'm not here to eat. I will fast until I choose to stop but I will NOT stop my fast on a bad day, at night or today. I can choose to break my fast tomorrow in the morning but not today.

I'm here to gain health.
I'm here to gift my body the time and energy to bring my body to a state of health.
I'm here to release - whatever needs to be released. Physical, emotional, conscious or unconscious out-moded things... I'm here to release them all.
I'm here to bring a greater depth to my spirituality.
I'm here to support myself, my super amazing husband Parz, and anyone here who wants support.
I am here to continue to be mindful - focusing on this moment and not anticipating the next one.
I am here to share my experience and gain knowledge from what others share.
I'm here to feel whole. I'm here to give my beautiful, cherished body a break from digesting food!!!

This is the "Fellowship of the Fasters" - unlike the LOTRs fellowship of nine, we are a fellowship of many. We welcome newcomers daily and embrace everyone no matter what they are fasting on or their personal beliefs.

Yes you can prefer green juices to fruit. Yes you can use agave instead of maple syrup or raw honey. Yes you can juice in your Vita-Mix and use a nut mylk bag to extract your juices.

We don't care how you fast... we want to support you... and in turn, we ourselves get supported... so please... join us!!!

Come on everyone.. join in the fun and grab your Elf, Dwarf, Hobbit or Human names for our "Fellowship of the Fasters"... you just make them up, it isn't from the book/movie. (if you want to participate) and put it in your signature line!

Ever wonder how the Fellowship began?

Back when I first began fasting there were the Fasting Bandits. This was a group of amazing people who fasted together all the time. The 'theme' was a convoy of truckers. I was the water tanker! :throwhearts: Over time the Fasting Bandits moved on with their lives and weren't around much at all. A few of the members are still here... but seldom fasting anymore.

I was missing the camaraderie of the FB and was always hoping to find a new group to fast with, find support with and to support myself. The Fellowship of Fasters began because Cathy and I watch the movie Lord of the Rings a LOT and we fast together a LOT as well. We began speaking to each other as though we were Golum - and our juice was our precious.

And then the Fellowship of Fasters was born!

So to be a member... you simply need to choose a name, put it in your signature line and love fasting. You can become a life-time member or one for a short time... it's up to you.

I'm here for the long haul. My water tanker is here beside me - because I'll always be a Fasting Bandit... but now my precious walks beside on a slower path than the truckers... enjoying the grass at my feet and the flowers growing out of the cracks and crevices in the rocks around me.

Started yesterday on a citrus juice fast. I don't know how long it'll go. I'll just do the best I can.

I've been drinking orange, pink grapefruit & meyer lemon juice ~

Count me in! Today is the first day of my first fast! I just drank my first morning juice and it was absolutely the most disgusting thing I've ever had, lol. I didn't want to waste it so I chugged it down and tried not to vomit. Now I know that's not my fave combination so I'll move onto the next! I'm already imagining myself putting food in my mouth, so I know its going to be a long road! Wish me luck!

Good luck OregonGirl, I will be fasting for the next 3 days, I hope I can stick with it and just have juice if needed. I try to focus on vegtable juices as they seem to ground me, and help me feel centered.

Looks like the 3 of us so far :) I'm doing very well, sticking with the citrus fruits as I'm wanting to go deeper with my detox & bump it up a notch. Am trying for a week, I'll see how it goes ~

Parz and I really want to fast but our renovations are keeping us out of using the kitchen. Hopefully they'll be completed this week and then we can fast next week... hoping hoping hoping...

Forgive me (or remove this post) is this is taboo - - but I'm wondering about bowel movements while juice fasting? Do they eventually stop? I realize everyone's body is different, so there may be many different answers...

My day 4 is going great.

Has anyone else done a citrus juice fast?

If the MC counts as a citrus fast, I did 18 days and loved it...had BM's several times a day. I'm gonna start with water today, then move to juicing.

I'll be fasting for the next few day.

As for bm's .... When I fast, I can go days without one and then have a few days with them. If you feel you need to have one, try adding in some apple juice. The apple juice is a natural way to have stimulate your bowls to move :)

I'm here. I'm keeping my own thread log, but I'm going to be fasting until Feb 28, or March 5. It depends on how my health issues are improving at that point. I doubt that I will need a full 28 days, but I also feel that once I hit 21, I might want to see if I can make the 28. I started around 6 AM on Feb. 5, officially, and so it's been about a day and a half. It's probably been nearly two days since I've eaten, though. I don't remember what time I ate dinner on the fourth, nor if I snacked after dinner. I am a little light headed this afternoon, but I know it passes. It's probably because I showered and then did the laundry back to back. @_@

Oh, and great theme song, by the way! I grew up in New Orleans, and watched Grandpa/ Papa Elliot (I think the was just Papa when I was little, obviously he wasn't ALWAYS old ;) ) perform a few times in the quarter. He's always great... or at least funny. I love that mix of that song.

Count me in as well. I'm on the 4th day of my juice fast. I've juice fasted, done numerous Master Cleanses and more recently have done some 48 hour fasts here and there. My intention for this current fast is to see if it will have an effect on a mysterious health condition that I've been trying to figure out for awhile now. No improvement so far, but I'm going to continue on for now.

I started on Saturday, the first day of a 3 day weekend, and I had very low energy all 3 days, w/the worst being yesterday. I didn't do much more than lie in bed and watch tv. Not having any caffeine is the hardest part for me. I have been dealing with some amount of brain fog and fatigue for awhile now, and fasting and not having caffeine have only made both worse. Today feels a little bit better, thankfully it's a quiet day at work. As of this morning I started putting my juice through a nut mylk bag. I was really surprised how much pulp was left behind after juicing! I'm curious to see if this will have any noticeable difference. I have not been hungry at all, that part of the fast has been easy! And I haven't even been having much juice, maybe 4 glasses a day. I've been topping off each one with a little bit of seltzer water, it gives the juice a nice little fizz.

I'm concentrating mostly on green juices, with some apple, carrot and beet for sweetness. In the evenings I've been having a sweet potato/grapefruit combo that I love, and I find it more satisfying.

How is everyone else doing?
