Hello Everyone,
I joined this forum around 2 weeks ago when my juice fast started, and I've learned a lot from the topics on here, but I have an issue and I was hoping maybe someone could help me.
I've been juice fasting for 17 days now, and feel wonderful. I'm slimmer, more energetic, my skin is better and all is good, apart from one thing. When I pee I seem to have lost pressure. I'm peeing at a very slow rate compared to before I started this fast.
This is quite embarrassing, obviously so I was wondering is it a normal side effect, is there something I can add to my juices to help this issue?
I drink the same juice 5 times a day.
One glass containing the following
Kale, Cucumber, Apples, Ginger, Celery and Lemon.
Thanks all.
Much love.
You might have a kidney stone in one of the pipes. That was an early sign when I had one.

Thanks, I'm gonna go to the doctor tomorrow and see if that is the issue.
Cheers.
It could also just be inflammation but ginger should be good for that. Kidney stones often start with what may seem like back pain. If you are taking any supplements containing calcium or using anything like Tums, you should stop using them. More lemon, cranberries, and perhaps magnesium & b6 supplements. Reducing oxalates is the other half of the equation (http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=george&dbid=48).

Thanks. I was just thinking that my water consumption has been way down recently too, I'm not sure if that could be a factor. Either way I'm off to the doctor tomorrow to see what he has to say. Thanks.
Celery is a powerful diuretic... whilst I wouldn't rule out the possiblity of calculi, you should consider that you may actually be somewhat dehydrated, following many days of diuresis, even if you are consuming a lot of juice/fluid overall.
Regarding the possibility of kidney calculi, I'm sure you are aware that there are a number of useful natural approaches.
These include the lemon juice you're already consuming, and there are herbs such as jin qian cao, chanca piedra, and clivers/cleavers. These herbs do not just erode calculi - they also happen to be diuretic in nature, which, of course, can be useful to assist expulsion of calculi, but their diuretic nature should be carefully borne in mind, not just in relation to potential dehydration (which may lower blood pressure) but also because they can quite rapidly lead to electrolyte depletion and this is not something innocuous - it can be potentially very dangerous indeed (heart arhythmias etc.). I'm not joking.

Thanks for the info. I'll get to the doctor today and see what he says. Not looking forward to the possibility of a lecture for juice fasting, though.
Thanks again.

I am aware of a method of stone expulsion which does not include surgery; I found it when a friend of mine was having some troubles. It involves drinking a lot of water and waiting a short period and then sitting down very quickly on a hard surface (men should take precautions with their tackle when using this method!). I will try to find the outline of the method and post a link - Arky will be able to give sensible advice as to whether it's worth trying. You always get sound info from Arky.
