Class Overview:

Description

Got a sweet tooth!!!! Craving something sweet, chocolate, and delicious? Meee too!!!!! So, lets get together and make some Raw Brownies!!!! I love the taste of Carob, so let's marry it with some Pecans and create a fabulous dessert that is healthy for you and satisfies that craving for something sinfully delicious!

There are many benefits to using Carob. Here are just a few:

Carob lowers cholesterol level in the blood.
It acts as an antioxidant.
It can be used to treat diarrhea in children and adults.
It contains an active substance that is effective against asthma. Carob is also used for asthma problems caused by allergies.
It is a good expectorant. If the smokers use it for a few days, they will see how to expectorate.
It doesn’t contain caffeine. It works nicely for patients that have high blood pressure.
It can help to prevent lung cancer, if used regularly.
It contains vitamins E and is used for the treatment of cough, flu, anemia and osteoclasis.
Carob tannins have Gallic acid. Gallic acid is analgesic, anti allergic and antibacterial. It is also antioxidant, antiviral and antiseptic.
It is used for the treatment of polio in children, as the Gallic acid in carob tannins helps to prevent polio.
It is rich in phosphor and calcium. For this reason, it is used in the fight against osteoporosis.

@ Tofumond: That's SO Gr8!!!!! Can't wait to meet you there!!!!!

@ Georgina: you MADE them!!!! Hummm... They look ok, but kinda dry. Did you use the recipe from the Rawtarian, or a different one? I'm actually going to make them before the class to make sure that they come out ok. I have another one that I use for my raw business, though. So if that one doesn't come out right, I have mine to fall back on. It may be the way that you put it together. Here is what Rawtarians look like:

I use Cranberries in mine....

one thing they aren't is dry! They are sticky as blazes! I have the remaining ones in the fridge loosely covered in the hope it dries them round the edges a bit. Yes it was the rawtarian recipe. Maybe I should not have soaked the dates as much but they were very dry. I don't like the coconut in them. Cherries would be wonderful.

Meanwhile . . . the following day . .

They are much better. Delicious even! I would still prefer cherries to coconut but there is always next time. So for a good texture, I recommend cutting them into their final sized pieces and then put them in the fridge to dry out - or a dehydrator on very low. I don't think they'd benefit from getting warm!

they both look good. How do they taste? How is their texture? Are you happy with the coconut component? Wish we could share around and compare :)

I didn't get to make the brownies yesterday and right now I can't eat, so I'm gonna make them as soon as I can again! They look sooo delicious! *_*

2 husky girl, how did you make the frosting?

@ MysticTree. I think mine tasted so yummy! I actually loved the subtle taste of adding the coconut, but I really like coconut. It sounded like you didn't like that as much. I didn't even think to try dehydrate for a few minutes to get warm, I bet that would be amazing!!! A share and compare sure would be fun! :)

@ tomufond. I hope you'll be able to make them soon! I also used rawtarian's frosting, here's the link: http://www.therawtarian.com/raw-chocolate-icing/

Me too!!!! My texture was not was moist as the Walnut ones, but I didn't grind up my Pecans as fine which may have contributed to that. I also soaked and dehydrated my Pecans (the Rawtarian didn't say to do that....). I like the taste of the Pecans, though. But I like the ones I make for my Detox Box better because I add fruit in mine. The class was SO much fun to do!!!! My daughter loved the Pecan Brownies! It's nice to have more than one way to make them! Thank you to the Rawtarian for a fabulous recipe!!!!!! :D
