I have always LOVED tomatoes, but since going raw they are something that is something I constantly crave. Almost like a drug or something. I find that I am really picky when it comes to tomatoes. I find that I only like a certian kinds, like little grape or cherry tomatoes. I have read that when you crave things, it is something that your body needs. Has anyone else had this experience? And with a special type of that food.

Don't hold back! If you're craving a fresh, healthy, raw food, eat until you feel satisfied! I get like that with cucumbers. I'll make a big cucumber salad, intending to share it with my family, but I just can't stop eating it all myself!

Keep in mind, satisfying cravings only holds true for raw foods. If you start craving a pizza, run the other way!

I just finished a 5 day water fast last week (which I am still meaning to record in my journal when I get the time!) and ever since I have been craving watermelon! I broke my fast with watermelon juice because I figured it would be the easiest on my body, and ever since I can't get enough of it! It just tastes sooo good. It makes me curious as to what my body is using all of it for! :)

I am addicted to fruit. I just have to have it every day, all day in fact. This comes from a person who, before raw, used to have maybe one piece of fruit a week, if any!

Best,
Gosia.

I, like you Gosia, am addicted to fruit....love it! Tried Dragon Fruit last weekend at a raw potluck...beautiful!
What's your favorite fruit if you had to pick? Mine's fresh Honey Crisp apples or pineapple.

I don't know if I could pick one. I am having a mango right now, and it is simply divine. Mmmm. I wish for figs, soft, ripe and sweet ones. I love persimmons too. And I miss durians (they don't sell them here in Hobart). I am going to Adelaide in a few weeks and I will have a feast on ripe, sweet fruit that I can't get in Hobart. I wish I could bring them for my children .... (there are strict transit laws in Australia, and you can't bring fruit to another state). I suupose tropical fruit are my favourite. Anything that is ripe, sweet and soft is like heaven to me.

Best,
Gosia.

I like tangy fruit, like oranges, pineapple, kiwis these are my favorites, I suppose if I had to pick one fruit only to eat for the rest of my life, it would be pineapple, I think it is the best food in the world.

when I want something sweet, I like bananas.

When I first went raw back about 5 years ago now, I craved Blueberries and strawberries. Everyone thought I was crazy because I would go to Tacoma to the fruit market to get them in the winter and they were top price. I think my body craved nutrients only offered in that kind of fruit. This time around, I am eating alot of greens and wheatgrass and seaweed, so I think my body is trying to detox and heal. I think you should always listen to your body, except if it is craving cake or pizza or something cooked that is definitely not good for you. Judy :) :p  :o

I am totally addicted to kale! LOL! I mean I NEED it everyday almost. I can't get enough.....I like my bowl clean. And lately, its been freshly dehydrated pineapple. Its wierd though. I couldn't eat it for awhile because I would break out in sores in my mouth. I'm hoping with the fast, that I overcome that allergy. I've been trying to moderate it, and so far, so good, no sores. :)

Beanie,
the sores you get in your mouth from eating pineapple, is not an allergic reaction, I used to get them too, but I didn't care, I would eat pineapple and my lips and tongue and mouth would bleed, but I'd eat it anyway,

the sores you get are from the acid in the pineapple, which is VERY strong when it is not ripe yet.

So, just know that it is from un-rip pineapple that you can get those sores.

Again, my lips and all would bleed but for some reason I didn't care, I have always loved pineapple

I think everyone experiences this craving in some form. Mine change.

When I first went raw, it was nuts. Couldn't go anywhere without a bagful of assorted nuts and seeds. Then it was avocados. I sometimes ate 5-6 a day, either straight up or in a salad. Just had to have them. I still eat them now, but only in a salad or something, and it isn't a big deal if I don't have them around.

Right now it is kale and watermelon. I make a kale salad every day, with a little oil/lemon/chili powder for dressing. This is really strange as I didn't like kale a year ago. With watermelon, I didn't crave it during the summer, but now I do (bad timing for sure). I buy the medium sized seedless ones and eat the whole thing in a day.

You are smart listening to your body and eating what you crave. Your body knows what it needs.
