Hello Everyone!
I started the master cleanse 7 days ago. My face soon began clearing up..until today, day 7.
I have tiny bumps on my forheard. I'm also breaking out on the lower part of my face down to the jaw line, along the hair line and a few cyst on one side of my face. Why the sudden break out? Shouldn't this have taken place the first few days versus the first few days of my skin getting clearer then bam, breaking out after that nice clear phase?

It happens when it happens and will probably continue to happen - on and off - for a while. I prefer juicing to the master cleanse but if it's working for you then carry on. You do realise that it's not a raw protocol though, don't you?

detox is detox as mystic said. i've done a lot of fasts and you never know when detox will kick in... just up your water intake!

That has happened to me a couple of times on a fast. My skin would start getting nice and smooth after a few days, but then maybe a week into the fast my skin might get a little dry, and I might get a pimple or two. However, after about another week, my skin would clear up and get nice and smooth again.
So, yes it is probably detox coming in waves.

It's nice to know it's common as I was getting use to the smoothness the first few days.
It's breaking out and dry now as you mentioned Gianni.
Thank you everyone! :)

Okay, so tomorrow is the last day of the master cleanse although I may extend it until Sunday.
I'm kinda freaking out as my skin started breaking out heavily two days ago and it doesn't look like it's going to clear soon.
I was thinking it would clear by the time I finish, but nope.
Any more insight anyone?

Today is day 9 of the master cleanse. The overall experience has been interesting and surprisingly not difficult, probably because I've been detoxing with fruits and herbs.
The cleanse started out with a total improvement in the acne on my face. As the days went by, my face became clearer and smoothier with less red and spots. As of two days ago I started breaking out and today, a day before the last day, my skin is horrible and painful with spots of small and cystic acne. I really do hope this is detox, but I'm suppose to be finishing tomorrow and was hoping it would clear then a few days ago.
Should I continue on with the master cleanse for a few more days up until Monday?

Only you can decide that. I did it for 18 days and loved my MC experience! If you do go on, fruits and herbs are not supposed to be used with this type of fast. If you haven't read the book by Stanley Burroughs you really should think about it.

Hi Renee!
Thank you for your reply! What was your experience like? Did you have detox symptoms?
I havent been eating fruits but have been taking my herbs. I've also been drinking a lot of coconut water and herbal tea.
I am hoping if I continue, the skin issue will clear... ?

So, really you're kinda doing a juice fast, huh? I was looking through my blog and found when I did the MC. Here it is...I think I was on Day 15 here:
http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/entry.php?17996-Still-Happily-Fasting...#comments
I stayed true to the book, although I ended before I really wanted to because of my anniversary. I e been wanting to get back to fasting, but having a raw business gets in the way... (I'm totally addicted to Alissa's Raw Pizzas!!!!!
I did post on the fasting thread at that time, so I'd have to look at the threads back then to really be accurate. I do remember how wonderful my BM's were! I really came to appreciate a clean colon because of fasting!!!!
Wishing you continuing success on your fast!!!!

Renee knows her stuff when it comes to the MC. I agree with everything she's said. (in case you wanted another opinion) LOL
I merged your threads since you were asking the same thing in both.

Oh okay Aleesha, didn't know you could merge it.
Renee, thank you for the link Renee! I'm soo ready to eat food but maybe doing the fast until Monday.

Hey guys!
It's day 10 of the master cleanse and I am not a happy girl! My skin is even worse today and hasn't looked this bad in months. It's pale, red and broken out with dry blood in some spots, iky I know. My lips are super dry and cracked and bleeding on and off. While it's been interesting, I am a bit disappointed that I'll be done tomorrow and everything looks worse than I started with.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Time to be your own Dr., I think. You can either continue on, or choose to stop...totally up to you. The thing is, if you've taken into your body ANYTHING other than what the fast is supposed to have, it's hard to tell if its detox or if what you've taken in is interfering with what the MC was supposed to accomplish. I didn't have this reaction when I did it, but of course everyone is different and detox varies from person to person.
Personally, if you want to continue, I think you should let go of the herbs and just do the cleanse. Do it another 3 days with no additions and see how you feel. Couldn't hurt, right?
Perhaps you may want to move over to a juice fast. Maybe your body is trying to tell you that it wants more in the way of raw vitamins and minerals from fresh fruits and veggies. Either way you choose to continue, be true to the fast you're doing. :)

Thank you Renee!
I have been seeing Dr. Robert Morse who is an amazing healer. I've been getting better and better since I started seeing him. When I spoke to his staff, one of them had read the master cleanse book and had done it for 15 days with great results. She said the herbs which I've been taking already, along with the master cleanse would speed up the detox even more. She also said it was okay for me to drink fresh coconut water along with it which I felt great on but ran out a few days ago.
I think that I'm going to be switching to only juices for the next two days. My body really wants something else I think. I'll be doing watermelon juice, apple juice, grape juice, and maybe orange juice for Sat and Sun. Looking forward to it.
Thank you for your advise!

I have heard good things about Dr Morse but his backing of MC doesn't do him any favours with me I'm afraid :(

No I don't and I thought Morse took cleansing and health more seriously but I don't want to upset Renee; she loves mc so I will leave it at that.

Oh no!!!!! The book tells us not to take any kind of supplements or anything at all except the Lemonade while doing the MC because the lymphatic glands can become clogged. That's what is probably happening to you. All the necessary vitamins and minerals are in the lemonade, and therefore we do not need an additional supply, in most cases. Many dangerous side effects can occur when taking supplements during this type of fast.
If you decide to do the MC again, please consider getting and reading the book yourself. It's the Master Cleanser by Stanley Burroughs! I got my copy at Whole Foods for $6.95.
When I did the fast, I made a gallon jug of it up fresh every morning and drank from there. I didn't do any herbs or supplents at all. It's a really easy fast to do. I'm sure you probably know, but it's not a 100% raw fast though, because of the Maple Syrup. I'm not a purest at this time, though, so it doesn't bother me. Juice fasting is 100% raw. When you move over to that kind of fasting you'll probably find your problems will disappear.
Thank you for starting this thread. Hopefully this will help others too!

Sweety, you'll not upsetting me at all!!!! Your opinion is your opinion. Freedom is a wonderful thing. We can be as raw as we choose to be. As I said, at this time I'm not a purest. That may change as time goes on. I like raw gourmet...you don't. And, that's ok! It's a journey. Perhaps the longer I'm walking on this road I will evolve to being raw in the most absolute purest state. But, for now I'm happy where I am.
The MC worked great for me when I did it. I also love juice fasting. Water fasting more than a day is not for me...but it may be for you. At the time I did the MC, it helped me tremendously. Whatever fast a person chooses to do is a personal decision. If I can help someone who chooses to do the MC at this point in their raw journey, I will do what I can. It's not a permanent way of life. It's a fast. It may not be the best fast in your opinion, but many people choose to do it as they work their way up to being 100% raw. Anything that keeps someone on the right road is a good thing, IMHO. :)

Renee, I love gourmet raw; I just don't find I can eat it very often or it knocks me off course for some reason. I still haven't made raw pizza yet but I will. I just need to eat gourmet no more than say one or two days a week. I'm very much of the opinion that what works for me is probably different from what works for someone else and sometimes it doesn't work for me either - that is when I trip up and make less than ideal choices. I love sprouted foods but would never intend to live entirely on sprouts. Variety is the spice of life and all that :) All the same, I don't want to diss the mc excessively because others do like it :)

consider adding some greens into your juices... herbs (mint, parsley, cilantro) are greens too!

He is more about high fruits and herbs. I asked if I could try the mc and he said it was alright as the lemon is very strong in moving the lymph system.

Thank you Renne for sharing your experience. I would have to say though, it doesn't make sense to me how the lymphatic system would get clogged up with additional herbs during the fast. Quite the opposite would happen, the herbs would assist in moving everything even more powerfully then just the master cleanse alone. My lymphatic system is already clogged and my kidneys and adrenals are pretty weak, hence, the reason I am having the skin issues to begin with. It cleared up a whole lot and when I first started the master cleanse, it continued clearing. It was looking really nice and dewy with just a spot or two. The herbs I was taking for my kidneys and lymph is to get my lymph moving and build my kidneys back to strength so they can filter out the lymph system instead of having all the toxins come out through my skin. My skin is much less inflamed this morning and I feel it was detoxing yhe past few days it appears.
I have done a juice fast before and had the same reaction of breaking out except the breaking out started two to three days into it, not on the seventh day. With the juice fast, I also had more severe detox symptoms overall then with the master cleanse. The master cleanse is a lot easier, but I did enjoy the juice fast more so. I will be on only juices today and tomorrow. Also, I wanted to mention, a gallon of water a day isn't exactly healthy for the kidneys!
Yes one of the woman who works with Dr. Robert Morse suggested I read the book as well - that she had done the master cleanse with the herbs and felt amazing after. I'm really grateful for Dr. Morse. He is one of the greatest healers of our time and I highly trust his experience and advise more than any author and doctor though. I was barely strong enough to wash my hair or even walk a year ago and I'm in school full time now thanks to him and his staff.

I am only 90% raw, sometimes 100%, but I love raw gourmet food. I do find it totally slows me down though. I think too much nuts, seeds and fats will do that and isn't healthy at all for the kidneys especially. Ideally once I'm done with my six month high fruit detox (have four more months to go), I'll be having gourmet maybe 3-4 times a week, probably less.

Okay thanks Aleesha! :)
Yesterday I had a bunch of raw apple juice, pomegranate juice, orange juice, and orange and banana smoothie towards the evening. Today I had a quart of raw grape juice, apples, raisins, mashed banana with more raisins and blueberries on it and cooked veggie soup with steamed broccoli for dinner.
My stomach has been in pain all day and I've been going straight to the bathroom right after I eat. My skin is breaking out in smaller bumbs as well. I've been super tired all day. I know I am still detoxing but thought maybe the cooked/steamed food with slow it down.
Hmm, I've been detoxing for awhile though with fruits and herbs but slowed it down for a month with steamed veggies, sweet potatoes, and soups sometimes in the evenings before I started the master cleanse. I felt so much better. I'm done with the master cleanse but don't feel so great.

Hi, thanks for the hugs! :)
I broke the master cleanse with raw apple, pomegranate, and orange juice yesterday. Today went back to eating normal and had the raw grape juice and fruits and the morning. Mashed banana with raisins and blueberries at lunch. And the veggie soup and steamed broccali at dinner. I had some avocado a little bit ago and feel so much better. :) But, what was your take on it?

Hi Aleesha! Thank you for your suggestion.
I did however speak to one of the naturopaths at Dr. Morse's office who had done a 15 day master cleanse herself before. She said the way I ended the fast was fine; that I was having a healing crisis towards the end and even after the cleanse as I have not stopped
detoxing (doing high fruits/herbs and some veggies until May). The elimination of the toxins through my skin was due to kidney weakness which I'm working on. I'm feeling a lot better by now! Thanks again!! :)

I'm surprised she said that. Here's what the book says:

I felt it was important to copy this for others who may want to do visit this thread. Opinions are like noses...everyone has them. I'm sure that the person who you spoke with meant well, though.
Aleesha is definitely a master faster, IMHO. She really does know so much about the fasting subject...I've definitely learned so much from her.
I'm really glad you posted here! I think this will definitely help someone else who does the fast.

As a side note...the book does mention that if you lived SAD diet, you *may* want to eat a veggie soup on the 3rd day. That's probably why that lady said the way that you broke the fast was ok. However, because this is a raw vegan site, we do not suggest breaking that way at all...unless you choose to make a raw soup or juice.

Hi Renee,
Dr. Robert Morse is one of the greatest detoxification masters of all time. He has over 40 years of experience curing all kinds of extreme to minor dis-ease cases. His staff is highly trained under him and they witness very serious cases of health issues day in and day out.
I am on a six month detox. During the winter I have fruits, juices, and herbs during the day and a large salad and sweet potato every other day in the evenings. Once a week in the evenings, I will have a cooked soup consisting of nothing but hot water and steamed veggies in them. When it gets warmer, I will be eating fruits, juices and herbs all day. I am also encouraged to do mini fasts every now and then consisting of anything from water fasts, juice fasts, grape fasts, coconut water fasts, and or the master cleanse.
Whether it's breaking the master cleanse with orange juice or other fruit juices - this does not matter according to Dr. Morse (in fact, orange juice is more intense on the body, if you still want to continue detoxing). I trust his opinion more than any other "expert" out there as he has over 40 years of hundreds and thousands of cases, as well as from personal experience with him. Also, any time a detox is taking place too strongly, there are two ways to go about it - pushing it through, or slowing it down if it's too intense. I decided to slow it down with the cook soup of steamed veggies and warm water and a avocado after the master cleanse but haven't stopped detoxing to this point and will continue to until May.
The initial comment I posted about not feeling well after the master cleanse was finished was actually a healing crisis I was going through and not because of the way the fast was broken - as the way the master cleanse was broken is completely fine. My regular detox (not the master cleanse) has still continued and I was feeling great the next day after the comment was posted.
