View Full Version : Thanksgiving Dilemma

This time last year I wasn't even raw or vegan or even vegetarian so I didn't have a problem like I do this year. My grandparents moved a little more than a hour away to a retirement community. We ate/are eating in the dining hall. I can remember nothing that was raw. Absolutely nothing.

I have been struggling with staying 100% raw lately, in fact I haven't been 100% in quite a while but I am really trying to look inside myself and tell myself to get with it! I need to take the plunge, I can't take something like this half-way. I have started drinking a big glass of lemon water every day but I end up going right back to SAD food. We've cut out soda and all caffeine and we don't bring sweets into the house. I had been doing really well with the green smoothies for a while and then stopped. I'm picking that back up again today because I remember feeling better then. I remember dropping a little weight, I remember feeling a little more like me, how I am really supposed to be.

So, for Thanksgiving, I do not want to cave in. They are all SAD eaters, though my aunt doesn't eat very much meat. I'm wanting to make a few things to take for myself to eat. They can be dehydrator recipes, as I have the 4 tray. Not very expensive things, though. I wouldn't be able to heat them up once I got there, either, unless I took my dehydrator with me  I have a small cooler that I could put the things into keep them fresh while we're on the road.

Does anyone have any ideas? I really, really appreciate it.

One thing I like to do is share my food with others. If your aunt has a food processor you can make a no bake pumpkin pie (if you want the recipe you can email me nadhirrah@care2.com) and the stuffing out there are good and oh and I have the most wonderful cranberry sauce (I've been waiting for cranberries all year) Most of the things here have 4-7 ingredients. Oh and crackers are good to take.

I've been waiting for a good cranberry sauce recipe.

Nadhirrah, would you be so kind as to share your recipe if you can?

Thank you.

Truthseeker, since you asked I will share the recipe it is from my 135 page recipe book called “In the Season thereof: Natural Unprocessed (raw) Food” and this recipe is copyrighted so please share with discretion.

Nadhirrah’s Cranberry Sauce
From “In the Season Thereof”

12 oz. fresh cranberries
2 cups pineapple in cubes
2 apples, pealed and chopped
1/3 cups pitted dates
½ teaspoon cinnamon

Mix in a food processor until coarsely mixed, chill several hours before serving.

I'd love to know the recipe for the pumpkin pie. Can I PM you instead of email?
